His name seems to be hot in the recruiting world right now so we sat down with Gause to talk about some of his top schools.
After a great start to his career in St. Louis, Gause transferred to Milton High School for his senior year and helped lead the Eagles to a final four. Together, he and Josh Dixon Josh Dixon 6'0" | PG Milton | 2025 State #185 Nation GA , made for one of the deadliest 1-2 punches in the state.
“Milton was like a dream come true for me. When I moved to Georgia, I was looking for a program that wasn’t far from my family down there and still elite at the same time. Milton was a great fit and they’ve felt like family ever since I arrived.”
Gause currently holds an offer from Lindenwood and tells me he’s been constantly hearing from Furman, Chattanooga, VMI, Iona, Northeastern, UNC-Greensboro, and Southern Illinois. Here’s what he had to say about each program.
Lindenwood: “I like Lindenwood because they play hard and play freely.”
Furman: “I was fortunate to go on a visit there. I loved the campus and the way they coach. It feels like a brotherhood there and I can really see myself fitting in.”
Chattanooga: “I think I fit well in their offensive scheme. They’ve got some really good guards that are leaving next year and I feel like I can come in and contribute to their good guard play.”
VMI: “I love the underdog mentality that they have. They play with a chip on their shoulder and that’s I how play so I could definitely see myself fitting in there.”
Iona: “I have a lot of family near Iona so it would be the most convenient thing. It’s a beautiful school and they have a great coaching staff.”
Northeastern: “I’ve got family up there as well. They’re a guard-heavy school and I would fit in well with their offense. It’s a beautiful campus too.”
UNC-Greensboro: “They have two twin guards that are going to be leaving so they need some guards to come in and step up. They’re guard-heavy and like to spread the floor out so that’s a system I feel like I would thrive in.”
Southern Illinois: “Southern Illinois is closer to the St. Louis area and I’ve grown up watching them play. I’ve always felt like it would be an honor to play there. The coaches are like family and I know them all very well.”
When it comes to his criteria for choosing a school, Gause told me he wants to go where he has strong relationships and where he feels the most valued.
Gause tells me he doesn’t have a timetable for his decision right now. He says his recruitment is still open and he’s just trying to sort out the best fit.
