The impact of Fredrick’s play could be summed up by one gesture: when Caleb Holt Caleb Holt 6'5" | SG Buckhorn | 2026 State AL , who was named the MVP, tried to give the MVP award to him. With Caleb struggling with an injury he suffered early in the contest, Fred-Fred, as he is known, put Buckhorn on his back and carried them to the Class 6A State championship even though overtime was needed. From big shots to clutch passes to the game-sealing steal, his performance on the final day on the biggest stage was nothing less than fantastic.
Best Scorer: Terrel Johnson Terrel Johnson 6'2" | SG Vigor | 2024 State AL (6’2/G|F/’24/Vigor)
Terrel proved he could score the rock with the best of them during his team’s semifinal game. He picked up where he left off in the finals despite his team falling short in their bid to win the championship. He is a multi-level scorer who is very skilled at scoring the rock. He does a great job getting to his spots on the floor and creating space to get his shot off. Terrel is a competitive off-guard who stays in attack mode and was one of the best finishers throughout the Final Four.
Best 3-Pt Shooter: Aslan Jones Aslan Jones 6'3" | SF Vigor | 2025 State AL
Aslan had a good championship game, as he put up a lot of numbers in the scoring column. He was aggressive from the start and knocked down some key buckets from behind the arc as his squad tried to stay in step with Fairfield. Aslan did all he could because he was very potent and productive, scoring from all levels. He was letting it fly from behind the arc.
Best Floor General: DeMarcus Williams DeMarcus Williams 6'0" | CG Fairfield | 2025 State AL (5’10/CG/’25/Fairfield HS)

DeMarcus had a solid overall game on both ends of the floor as his team captured the Class 5A state title. He orchestrated the game from start to finish and executed Coach Ford’s plan with great intentionality. He took care of the ball, distributed it to his playmakers, and, during this game, made some huge scoring plays of his own. His stock has really increased this year, as he has emerged as one of the top two-way talents at the point guard position.
Best Rebounder: Caleb Holt Caleb Holt 6'5" | SG Buckhorn | 2026 State AL (6’6/SG/’26/Buckhorn)

What makes this so surprising is that Caleb got hurt early in the contest and still played his way through the injury. As it was evident that he was not 100% and could not really move well, he still competed and impacted the game with his performance on the glass, which was sheer determination, to say the least. Buckhorn is not a big team, so when Caleb came up limping, many questioned how they would be able to compete on the boards, but a hobbled Caleb quickly answered that question.
Best Shot-Blocker: DeWayne Brown, II DeWayne Brown, II 6'9" | C Hoover | 2025 State #106 Nation AL (6’9/C/’25/Hoover HS)

After having an impressive scoring performance during the semifinal game, DeWayne followed up with a solid all-around championship game. I continue to say this and will until he graduates and that is DeWayne is just too big. He is a load to deal with and hard to move off his spot. Even though he did not have a massive scoring night, he was efficient from the field, still providing double-digit scoring. DeWayne did have a significant impact on the game. He blocked and challenged numerous shots over the course of the game. Potential interior scorers had to think twice before going up, as they knew Big DeWayne was lurking nearby.
