Take a look at some of the Seniors who had standout seasons and improved tremendously:
After a season-ending injury in his Junior Year, Will Fowler Will Fowler 6’1″ | PG Byrnes | 2024 State SC bounced back with a terrific Senior Year. Fowler received accolade after accolade for his performances this season including All-State, Region Player of the Year, Big Mac Classic MVP, and much more. Fowler is a determined scorer who will give his all every night. He has a great mid-range shot and can finish close to the bucket with either hand. This season, Will averaged 18 Points Per Game – including a Career-High 41 Points against TL Hanna -, 4 Rebounds Per Game, and 3 Assists Per Game en route to a 5A State Championship Appearance.
Josiah had a monster Senior Season to help Cardinal Newman win the SCISA 4A State Championship. He has a knack for scoring the ball but is versatile enough to play either position in the backcourt. The Cardinals had many mouths to feed on the offensive end but it was Peeples who led the team in scoring at over 13 Points Per Game shooting 45% from the field. Peeples also went over 1,000 Career Points and was selected All-Region and All-Tournament in the Impact Sports Invitational and Poinsettia Classic.
Ross is a do-it-all wing that has great length. He is listed at 6’7″ and can defend multiple positions on the defensive end and score in multiple ways on the offensive end. In his Senior Season, he averaged 15 Points Per Game, 5.5 Rebounds Per Game, 2.3 Assists Per Game, and 1.7 Steals Per Game. In particular, on the offensive end, DeAnthony’s ability catch and shoot opened up a lot of driving lanes, making him a handful for defenses to gameplan for. Ross was named to the 1A All-State Team this year and All-Region in his Junior and Senior Years.
Highlights
Hollis had a monster year scoring the ball for first-year Head Coach Charles Blue and the Gaffney Indians. The Senior Guard can fill it up in an instant and led the team with over 17 Points Per Game (19.4 Per Game in Region Play). That alone is remarkable, but Harris averaged just 7.3 Points Per Game in his Junior Year, clearly making him one of the most improved players in the state. Although Markell had the ball in his hands often for the Indians, he maintained good efficiency, shooting 60% from the field, 41% from three, and 83% from the free throw line this season.
Nash Somero Nash Somero 5’11” | PG Blue Ridge | 2024 State SC and the Blue Ridge Tigers had a remarkable season in 2023-24. Despite starting the season 0-10, they made it to the 3A Elite 8. Nash was a huge part of that. He more than doubled his scoring average from 10.0 Points Per Game in his Junior Year to 21.1 Points Per Game in his Senior Year, while also increasing his assists average, field goal percentage, and 3-point field goal percentage. Nash also had a couple of outbursts the season, including a Career-High 42 Points in the Battle at the Border Tournament against Chapman. Somero was selected to the 3A All-State Team and finished as one of the Top Per Game Scorers in the State his Senior Season.
Drake is starting to see some offers funnel in after a much-improved Senior Season. He has received offers from Columbia International, Pfeiffer, Erskine, and Clark’s Summit all in the weeks since the end of the High School Season. Stewart had a couple of solid performances with Team KST during the summer, but truly broke out as a High School player in his Senior Season. Stewart is an outstanding shooter but he also is crafty with his body around the basket and can score off the dribble. His quickness, strength, and IQ all stand out as well, allowing him to make plays on both ends of the floor.
