Sikeston defeats NMCC convincingly.
This game was much anticipated in the southeast region. Doors opened nearly 3 hours before tip-off and there was a line wrapped around the school. The hype was for good reason as the two teams have been fighting for bragging rights all season. In the end, Sikeston won for the second time advancing to 22-0 at the time. They’re now 24-0. The trio of PJ Farmer, Dontrez Williams Dontrez Williams 6'5" | SG Sikeston | 2024 State #236 Nation MO , and Tristan Wiggins Tristan Wiggins 6'0" | PG Sikeston | 2025 State MO scored 76 points combined. These three along with Trace Sadler Trace Sadler 7'0" | PF Sikeston | 2025 State MO on the backline have all been key this season. It was a breakout game for Farmer who scored 32 and had a dominant first half. As for NMCC it was business as usual for Jadis Jones Jadis Jones 6'5" | SF New Madrid Central | 2024 State #248 Nation MO and BJ Williamson. Both played well but it wasn’t enough. They were searching for someone to match the production that Wiggins was giving Sikeston. Most would say this was the difference in the game. It’s not often that games like this live up to the hype but it did.
Seedings are released.
Seedings and the road to state are something people look forward to each year. MSHSAA has been slowly releasing the districts over the past few days and there have been a few key takeaways. First, Parkview was awarded the top seed in C5D6 over Rolla which came as a surprise to some. Rolla is 21-4 on the season and a deserving top seed in many eyes. Staying in Class 5, it appears that District 3 will be one of the tougher roads in the state. Ladue is the top seed with schools such as De Smet and a surging Hazelwood East at the 2 and 3 spot. Don’t count out Westminster, Parkway Central, and McCluer North. There has been a lot of volatility this season and anybody is capable of knocking off the top seeded Rams. Another tough district is C6D8 which features Oak Park, Staley, and North Kansas City. This is an absolute gauntlet of a district and the winner will surely be battle tested.
Ladue and Vashon add a game.
According to John Hough the Ladue Rams and Vashon Wolverines have added a game on February 23rd at 6:00pm. It’s a home game for Laude. This is yet another tough game for Vashon who will look to make a statement. As for Ladue this is smart scheduling and will only get them more prepared for what they’re going to see down the road. This is a win-win for both programs.
