Because he is listed as a PG for us, he will not be on this list below.

The @PrepHoopsTN rankings are fresh for the junior class, 2025 class rankings. In addition to featuring the Top 140, Top 135, Top 130 players, we are now showcasing the players by position. Behold the Best Junior Shooting Guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1211987' first='Cade' last='Capps'] | Stone Memorial | 29.1 ppg

Current Ranking: #1

The #1 prospect in Tennessee remains [player_tooltip player_id='1211987' first='Cade' last='Capps']. It all started with great shooting form and yet the guy just keeps expanding his game. He surprises no one with his capabilities, and defenses are not sagging, and yet Capps continually hits the jumper with a hand right in his face. Defensive rebounding is a strength for the tall guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='1273564' first='Myles' last='Sidney'] | Lipscomb Academy | 12.7 ppg

Current Ranking: #8

An elegant wing, Myles is averaging over a dozen points this season. He played a not irrelevant role at the State Tournament during his rookie, freshman season. Sidney is unafraid of contact after putting on some needed muscle. The biggest improvement in Sydney's game the last year is dribbling. Sidney likes the hesitation dribble and cut to the block for a layup attempt. Often during a heated game at Pope Prep, Myles drew fouls after getting a half-step on his defender.

The Middle TN Next Wave of Talent: Part I

[player_tooltip player_id='1352799' first='Tyler' last='Jones'] | ECS

Current Ranking: #12

Listed as a combo guard with us, Tyler is a dual-threat offensive player because he can create his own shot or create a quality opportunity for a teammate. Jones grew to 6-foot-3 and he sees a good amount of 6-foot-0, or shorter defenders, so over time he has adapted his dribble to get low. Not a hulking young man, he still gets his shoulders kind of huddled around the ball to protect while dribbling. Jones' craftiness with the dribble ranks up at the top of this bunch. A righty, Jones dribbles wonderfully with his left hand even when executing complex moves. Clearly there is a lot of unseen skill work in his past.

[player_tooltip player_id='1852698' first='Taquez' last='Butler'] | Douglass | 16.3 ppg

Current Ranking: #14

Taquez is the truth. Fans in the Memphis area see him as their top player in the 2025 class. Butler and his Douglass team are good enough to win the whole ball of wax in March. Both silky and speedy, Butler is an enigmatic scorer, blessed with athleticism that he infuses with a hunter's desperation for a kill. In his case a bucket is that kill. And he gets his share every time on the prowl.

https://twitter.com/JeremyJacksonJ4/status/1746582133248831735?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id='1259392' first='Jeremy' last='Jackson Jr.'] | Columbia Academy | 14.9 ppg

Current Ranking: #17

If [player_tooltip player_id='1273550' first='Shane' last='Cherry'] didn't exist, then [player_tooltip player_id='1259392' first='Jeremy' last='Jackson Jr.'] would be the quickest first-step hooper in Tennessee. Jackson Jr. explodes from a stand-still like a firecracker. Dealt with an injury in the off-season, but he is back 100%. Jackson Jr. averages 14.9 ppg, 10.0 rpg, and 4.6 apg. He could play college point guard. Amazing rebounder. Powerful leaper.

The knock on Jeremy early in his high school days was that he couldn't shoot from range. That is changing (20-53 3's, 38%).

[player_tooltip player_id='1277265' first='Reed' last='Ownby'] | Sevier County

Current Ranking: #18

Reed plays forward for his high school team, which makes projecting his long-term success tricky. At 6-foot-4, he will be most threatening offensively leaning on his handles and shooting ability facing the basket. Ownby proved way back in 15u (2022) that he was a top-tier creator as a guard. There are certainly glimpses of that still deeply entrenched in his game. For instance, facing Jefferson County, his team secured a steal and

[player_tooltip player_id='1551555' first='Zane' last='Restelli'] | Baylor School

Current Ranking: #19

Zane's aggression sets him apart from most high school players. Humans generally relax after a modicum of success. Basking is not in Restelli's makeup. Attack, attack, attack. Restelli plays with a silkiness and slipperiness. Good guard height. Possibly a point guard at the college level. Restelli does not take a lot of three-pointers. Baylor School is a team with great offensive balance they pick and probe effectively. Most of Restelli's impact tends to be via the slash or pass. Great passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1947172' first='Landon' last='Bryant'] | LaVergne

Current Ranking: #20

Back in October, Landon earned Co-MVP at our PrepHoopsTN Combine. In the intervening months Bryant showcased even more high-end athleticism, functional movements that result in high-percentage shots. LaVergne's program (19-9) is in a lofty place thanks largely to Head Coach Tony Rutland and Landon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1316860' first='Aaron' last='Mattingly'] | Green Hill

Current Ranking: #21

Great two-sport athlete. Mattingly's game sparkles. Inside his portfolio you can see Mattingly jumping over people for rebounds or defending multiple positions. Mattingly can shoot it a little bit though not at the insane level of a Capps or [player_tooltip player_id='1947172' first='Landon' last='Bryant']. His agility and size for position are special.

NOTE: Cortez Graham-Howard Cortez Graham-Howard Cortez Graham-Howard 6'5" | PG Hillsboro | 2025 State TN is in our rankings as a point guard, though he could be a shooting guard in college. Because he is listed as a PG for us, he will not be on this list below.
