Continue ReadingThese 2 classes are wide open with many teams with the chance to claim a county title. The AA should come down to Smithtown West and Hills East. But if your sleeping on Deer Park you might wake up surprised they are a young team who will play you as hard as anybody on both ends of the floor. Class A is even more wide open. John Glen, Mount Sinai and Southhampton look to be the favorites going in. But I can make a case for all 7 which includes Bayport, Kings Park, Wyandanch, Sayville.
A hard working player who brings his football mentality to the hardwood. Can score inside and out. Really good scoring through contact. Does whatever it takes to impact the game.
Highlights
Smooth player. Really good handle. Lanky and long athletic gets into the lane and can score or dish it off. Excellent court vision and awareness. A young player but he plays beyond his years. Makes the right play at the right time.
Already a leader this young player is extremely quick with the ball in his hands. Gets into the lane and can score amongst the trees. Extremely poised will not get sped up understands how to play the team game but at the same time can take over when he needs to.
Very savvy player. Handles the ball with confidence. Very quick first step getting into the lane. Creative in transition either making a pass of finishing himself. Shoots it well from beyond the arc.
Highlights
Came back from an off season injury and has not missed a beat. Had a terrific season. Tremendous rebounder on both ends of the floor. Added bonus on the defensive glass he can snag it and lead the break. Flat out scorer from all three levels. Confident player can knock down crucial free throws in crunch time.
Robbie can really shoot it. Outstanding range. Comes off of screens tight and has a quick release. Handles the ball really well with excellent court vision.
Outstanding shooter, one of the top three point specialist in Suffolk. Handles the ball with confidence and a strong base. Pushes the ball well. Defensively moves his feet and hands and really pesters the opponent.
Highlights
Naevon game has really evolved. Tremendous at the high post catching it and finding cutting teammates. Also possesses a soft touch with the foul line jumper. Has added the ability now to get to the rim off the bounce. Handles the ball much more now then in the past which has made him an all around threat. Tough rebounder inside.
