The main thing Jacobs brings to the floor is his 3PT shooting, though against Stadium last week, he was an all-around performer who happened to hit some big 3s. His shots from deep seemed to come late in the clock or at moments when the offense was stalling, and in a game where his team only scored 35 points, each of his 3s were magnified even more. He’s a guy that can make heavily contested shots and shows great focus with defenders barreling down on him. Jacobs also made a couple of key defensive plays and made the most of his touches in a tough loss that ended the Lions’ season.

In what ended up being a one-point loss, the junior Bellevue guard came up with big 3 after big 3 and played some pretty solid perimeter defense against West Seattle last week. Treves hit at least four 3s by my count and was a steady catch and shoot option throughout the game. With some of their other shooter struggling to hit from behind the arc, his efficiency and readiness gave them a big lift in addition to his ability to cut off drives and stay close to his man on the defensive end.
Gentry had one of the biggest individual quarters of last week I saw, scoring 13 points in the second quarter of their matchup with Kelso. The North Thurston Rams eventually pulled away for a big win but it was Gentry’s hot quarter that got the ball rolling and helped them start separating themselves from the Hilanders. His big quarter really hinged on some hot shooting from 3, knocking down three of them plus doing some work inside with tough finishes and drawing fouls. You could feel momentum shifting and other players feeding off of his play. Gentry even made some big defensive plays during the run, getting his hands in on drives and tipping balls out on the perimeter.
Highlights
Krebs got off to a bit of a slow start against Pullman in their district championship game but eventually came through from deep after missing his first three shots back there, and ended up dropping in some crucial shots from outside like his trey to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter. He’s a guy with a real quick release and has a little bit of size to make it a decently high release too. And while he may be the best shooter on his team, he’s also a guy that can take the ball to the rack and shows some touch pulling up short in the paint too. He’ll be a name to watch as Rogers takes on Grandview, one of the tougher teams in the 2A, tomorrow night.

Royal is a pretty well-rounded team with a lot of guys who can step up and hurt you, but Allred has one of the more reliable jumpers on the squad and it was pretty evident in their matchup last week with Zillah. He was hitting shots from behind the arc, burying them in the midrange, and a lot of it was because he was able to get balanced before each shot. The junior seemed pretty calm with the ball and knew what spots he wanted to get to, was able to create enough space around the perimeter and knocked down shots at a high clip. He’ll be a guy to mark when they face Annie Wright this Saturday at TCC.
