Surprises
Woolstenhulme can hoop. No matter what team you put him on he will find a way to get on the floor. The only knock on his game is his outside shooting but you can’t really say anything about the rest of his game. He is a legit next level player that has a better motor than most players on the court. He will be back next year and be a problem once again.
This kid has surprised me all year but last night he was arguably the best athlete on the floor in the championship game. Not talking about skill just sheer athleticism. He had a block shot he put in the bleachers like it was just this casual thing. He will be an elite athlete at the next level if he chooses to play. Kid could be a stud receiver if you tell me.
Kid came in off the bench and he did his job. He came in, he played solid defense on some of Orem’s bigs and a the best part was at his size he was able to find the bottom of the net in a huge game with a crazy atmosphere. This could be a big time boost as he will have to play a few tough bigs in the next round.
Standouts
The more this kid touches the ball and remains active on the offensive end the more you start to see that he has a shot to really play at the highest level if he puts in the work in the weight room and working on his footwork and making quick moves. He is a player you must watch because he continues to raise his stock everytime he hits the floor.
JJ when on the flor is able to do so much so seeing him stay on the floor and not get into foul trouble was big for him as he was such an impactful player, especially at the top of the key when he is able to make a few moves and go quickly to the rim. JJ has improved his vision as he was finding player open in the perimeter and on cuts to the rim. He finishes through the contact that he gets and the contact he creates as well. He has a high ceiling.
At times even the best teams have some slumps out there or things get stagnant but when you have a player like Dash Reiser Dash Reiser 5’9″ | CG Alta | 2026 State UT you can always count on him having a short memory and he will shoot because that is what he does. Reiser was able to hit some big time shots that really spread things out for his bigs to not get doubled and for his guards to have open runs at the rim. Kid is really developing.
Loew had a special night where he was just feeling it from beyond the arc and he was getting some great passes and he was making things happen. He is one of the smallest players on the floor yet he gets in there and mixes it up and brings in rebounds. He was a big spark plug that really came through yesterday.

Riverton Upsets Lone Peak
Riverton over Lone Peak was a big surprise. Although both teams have been up and down all season Lone Peak has some athletes that could really make it tough on teams but on the other hand Riverton has players that share the ball and they run a system taht gives everyone the ball and they took advantage of the movement. Zach Edwards Zach Edwards 6'4" | PF Riverton | 2024 State UT has been solid playing that SF position. Kaden Allred Kaden Allred 5'11" | PG Riverton | 2024 State UT and Evan Berrett Evan Berrett 5'10" | PG Riverton | 2025 State UT share the load at PG. Ben Barrus Ben Barrus 6'4" | CG Riverton | 2024 State UT has been great all year but a breakout performance from Vaughn Johnson Vaughn Johnson 6'6" | SF Riverton | 2024 State UT was the biggest difference.
AF beats Bingham
it’s that time of the year when you depend on some of your upper classmen to pull you through those tough defensive battles. Tiger Cuff Tiger Cuff 6'4" | CG American Fork | 2024 State UT had just enough to pull out a defensive battle. 16 points and huge three-pointer. As a team Binham was held to only one player in double figures all game. The Miners do have a returning player that should be very good in Luke West Luke West 6'2" | SG Bingham | 2026 State UT , he is next up over there.
