From the opening tip, the experience at Guilford seemed to be too much for a youthful Stevenson quad. Starting fast and finding their touch throughout the contest. The Vikings won 77-68 and did not trail in the contest.
While Guilford took care of business, the youth and promise at Stevenson should not be overlooked. They started only one senior while many of their underclassman showed they can make big plays and step up when needed. Both teams also went deep into their bench. Playing 9-10 players in a regular rotation.
Here’s my four biggest standouts from the contest.
Lengthy, athletic 6’8” F that stretched the floor. Buried a pair of threes to open the game. His play style is more reminiscent of a wing rather than a big. Even displaying solid defense on the perimeter. Driving dunk to begin the third quarter followed by a put-back block.
Highlights
The most experienced player on this team. Opened with a pair of threes. Also Impressed with his movement off the ball to get open and got very involved as a passer. He hit another pair of contested three’s early in the 3rd quarter to keep guilford ahead. Ended with 18 points. Growing even as a senior.

Cinco Gary
Cinco Gary
The player of the game. 2024 PF was unfazed by his size down low. Came up with tough baskets inside throughout the contest. Even stretched out for a three late in the second quarter and hit a contested three from the top of the key in the third quarter. Followed it up with a fadeaway jumper to begin the 4th. Reminds me of Draymond Green with his size, physicality, defense, and playmaking ability. Made taller players on Stevenson earn their baskets in the paint. Finished with 28 points.
Donnie Williams
Donnie Williams
6’0” sophomore guard at Stevenson flashed tons of potential. Smooth ball-handling on offense complemented by great vision and a high IQ. Also hit a variety of shots in n different spaces on the floor. Finished with 16 points and four 3-pointers. Looks like he should grow more over the next few years.
