In the quest to uncover a name that might not be getting noticed this report probably not that. These are going to be names we have all heard of before, a who's who in the state's ranking list, it seems. For this mid-season report we have to take in competition level and/or some career accomplishments. We have all become accustomed to hearing these names and then hopefully appreciating their play not just this year but in their careers. Below are the ones that should be celebrated for being some of the best players that the state has to offer. These are the one's that are just once again making an impact through their production.

[player_tooltip player_id='1142121' first='Tim' last='Franks'] | 6'5" | W | 2024 | Homestead | Chapman Academy

Stat Line: 28.6ppg / 7.6Rpg / 1.8apg*

More Numbers: 401 total points, 48-points high game, 46.4% Shooting on 97 attempts 3 pointers

Team: 11-3

For me, when describing [player_tooltip player_id='1142121' first='Tim' last='Franks'] a descriptive word is 'Leadership'. I have enjoyed watching his career and the way he goes about competition. He is the All-Time Leading Scorer for Homestead H.S. He has committed to St Thomas University (D1) in Minnesota as a walk-on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1142142' first='Jaquan' last='Johnson'] | 5'11" | PG | 2024 | Pius XI | Wisconsin Playground

Stat Line: 33.4ppg / 7.4rpg / 7.4apg*

More Numbers: 468 total points, 50-point high game, 2000+ Career points, 31.1% on 90 attempts 3-pointers

Team 7-7

This one is a competitor and just when you think you have him down, he is going to take it to you like no one else. If you watch his play he is going to end up on the ground and it is then that the opponent is in dire trouble. He has scored more than 2000 career points and has committed to Bradley University (D1) on scholarship.

[player_tooltip player_id='1142122' first='Michael' last='McNabb'] | 6'6" | W | 2024 | Grafton | Chapman Academy

Stat Line: 27.7ppg / 8.8rpg / 2.8apg*

More Numbers: 388 total points, 48-point high game, 39.3% on 56 attempts 3-pointers

Team: 8-6

Over his career he has just kept competing and kept improving. He has a deceptive first step that allows him to just beat you. Very good finisher at the hoop. Grafton's All-Time Leading Scorer with more than 1400 career points. Committed to (DII) Northern Michigan

Dupree Fletcher Jr | 5'10" | PG | 2024 | Carmen NW | Power 5

Stat Line: 30.8ppg / 7.4rpg / 5.2apg*

More Numbers: 370 total points, 39-point high game

Team: 10-2

Competitor! When I watch him, at times it looks as though he would rather die than lose. Committed to Grambling State (D1)

Kon Knueppel | 6'5" | W | 2024 | Wisconsin Lutheran | Phenom

Stat Line: 27.1ppg / 9.7rpg / 5.3apg*

More Numbers: 379 total points, 38-point high game, 42.2% on 90 attempts 3-pointers

Team: 14-0

K2 is what I call rocking chair basketball. Us as fans just sit down & watch the most fundamentally sound virtually mistake free basketball being played. Game video should be shown to young players on how he plays. I can't imagine a better entertainment in basketball, watching this play and then checking the stat sheet after and we all exclaim....he put up what? He scored that many? It's all in the flow. It's as cool as that rocking chair and a glass of your favorite lemonade. #2 on his high school's all-time list in scoring & rebounding with a chance to be number before it's over. Committed to Duke.

[player_tooltip player_id='1089682' first='Nick' last='Janowski'] | 6'3" | SG | 2024 | Pewaukee | Phenom

Stat Line: 31ppg / 8.3rpg / 4.5apg*

More Numbers: 372 total points, 40-point high game, 36.6% on 101 attempts 3-pointers

Team: 11-1

What an absolute career! Three-time state champion. Maybe the most complete career in recent memory. I have often said that there is not another player in the state that has a bigger offensive back than Nick. A gym rat who puts in the work. Committed to Nebraska

[player_tooltip player_id='1145649' first='Cody' last='Schmitz'] | 6'5" | W | 2024 | G.E.T. | [program_tooltip program_id='2076027' first='Wisconsin' last='Blizzard']

Stat Line: 31.6ppg / 10.7rpg / 3.2apg*

More Numbers: 384 Total points, 50-point high game, 34% on 56 attempts 3-pointers

Team: 14-3 14

This one can put up some numbers where he has at times has led the state in scoring. Maybe overlooked at times being north of La Crosse, WI. but he is talented in averaging a double-double per game. He has more than 2000 career points. Currently ranked #14 in the state. As far as I know he is uncommitted but is receiving DII interest

Photo: Megan Corcoran

Stat lines were either sourced through team pages or Wisconsin Sports Network; wsisports.net (I thank you for what you do)
