If you need a shooter, check Higgins out. He’s a high-caliber 3-point threat who gets his shots off quick and doesn’t care if there’s a hand in his face. The Walla Walla guard has the permanent green light and is a major threat from behind the arc. And while shooting is his top skill, he’s still a guy that will contribute in other areas. He finishes at the rim with both hands and is pretty solid through contact. He’s also a guy who can guard his position fairly well and can get some steals by keeping his mitts up and being in good position.

The Mules have been off to a strong start in the 2B and Sause is a nice guard/wing who does a little bit of it all for them. He has good length for the 2B but gives the impression of a longer player with his athleticism and is a kid who can get up pretty easy for dunks. He’s also got some game on the perimeter and can knock in some deep 3s, and while his handle is good enough to get to his spots at this level, its’ probably the one area that would need most work to be a wing in college. With his athleticism he’s able to make some plays on defense and sits pretty well in his stance to stay with guards outside.
Wulf runs point for Brewster and has a pretty good head for the game, keeping the ball moving and protected under his watch. He’s also a solid defender that can get pokes and push the ball in transition. His most impressive quality has been scoring the ball though. He’s an adept 3-point shooter with extended range, can score with his back to the basket away from the rim and uses his body well when getting downhill to the cup. He’ll probably be more of a traditional point for any college team that takes a shot at him but his ability to score from each level will definitely be a plus.

A really solid player for an upstart Ridgeline team, Cline has a nice shot from outside, shows good hustle across the board, and I haven’t seen many negative plays from him. He takes care of the ball, plays within the team, and is solid enough with it on drives and prodding on the perimeter to make plays without forcing the ball into tough spots.

Nordling’s a nice player who can handle the rock, get his own shots and make some tough ones at that, and plays well off the ball where he can spot up or beat defenders with a couple dribbles and get to the rim or the pull-up. He’s got a solid base when shooting the ball which helps him hit pull-ups, turnarounds and leaners with defenders close on him. He can defend both guard spots and has been an important guy for a Sumner team looking to make a run at State.
Usitalo has been one of the more impressive “growth” players I’ve seen this year. He looks stronger, more assertive, better off the dribble, and more aggressive this season than a year ago. At 6-foot-6, he has good size on the wings and the development of his outside shot plus the tightening up of his handle has really opened up his offensive game. He also looks more athletic and has been an impact defender who can jump passes on the perimeter, make big plays on the glass, and defend down in the paint.

Another senior stepping up in a big way for Sumner has been Miller. He’s a 6-foot-5 wing who’s real aggressive on defense, can stick tight to his man all over the court and has the eye for when to take chances on steals. He has gotten in foul trouble the last couple of times I’ve seen him but he plays with an outstanding motor that rewards his team with clutch plays. Offensively, he is tough at the rim, has the ability to knock down some outside shots, and is a factor on the break.
