The game of the year from a national perspective was on Sunday evening as the top ranked team in the country and what some have said is the best high school team ever assembled Montverde clashed with Prolific Prep from California who boasts two of the premier prospects regardless of class in the country themselves.

It featured the #1 player in the 2024 class (Cooper Flagg), 2025 class (AJ Dybantsa), and 2026 class (Tyran Stokes)…..just in case you didn't see the national telecast because ESPN mentioned it only about every four seconds. Montverde opened up 8-0, but Prolific Prep came right back to lead after the first quarter. It was close all game long with Prolific Prep leading going into the final TV timeout. As they always seem to do though Montverde found another level winning in the end 76-71.

Here we look at the top performers in the game in 10 Best: Montverde vs Prolific Prep!

Cooper Flagg (Montverde, FL – 2024 – Duke)

The best prospect in America showed on a big stage why he has earned that honor over the last several years. Flagg is a power forward that opened the game with three early blocks including one on a jumper by Dybantsa. Then followed it up with a massive dunk powering his way through a smaller defender as if they weren't even there. His all-around skill set offensively is super impressive. He really sees the floor as a passer, decks it better than almost any guard, and can shoot it from distance with a clean stroke including one going away from the basket to close the half. Defensively his instincts are off the charts with chase down blocks, getting in passing lanes, and using his length to impact the game. Very good rebounder that has a knack for always being in the right spot at the right time. He had 15 points (6-15 FG), 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Duke has a centerpiece to build around….at least for one year. #1 pick in 2025 NBA Draft.

Liam McNeeley (Montverde, FL – 2024 – Indiana)

McNeeley had a huge game for Montverde making key plays both early and late. The combo forward has a versatile inside/outside game. He is one of the premier shooters in the country and the Indiana Hoosiers commit was letting it fly early and often in this one draining four of them. Also scored off movement going to the hoop and had a couple of impressive drives for dunks or finger rolls en route to 22 points (4-5 3 PT).

Derik Queen (Montverde, FL – 2024)

Queen is now the highest ranked uncommitted prospect in the country after the halftime commitment of Edgecombe to Baylor. The Montverde big man is an old school back to the basket five man. He always seems to get the job done and when you look up at the end of the night has left a huge impact on the game. Same can be said in this one. He has excellent footwork, hands, and touch around the basket. Finishes well with either hand. Can play bully ball, pounds the offensive glass for put backs, and is an overall dominant force on the defensive glass. He had 18 points (7-11 FG) and 6 rebounds.

Robert Wright (Montverde, FL – 2024 – Baylor)

Wright is headed to Baylor and they are getting a stellar leader at the point. He does a great job of making all the weapons around him happy. High IQ guard that makes intangible plays. He had several steals in this game that turned into layups on the other end. Burst with the ball in his hands and is acrobatic finishing at the cup. He had 11 points (5-14 FG) in the win along with 5 rebounds.

Curtis Givens (Montverde, FL – 2024 – LSU)

Givens hit some big shots in this one including a clutch three late that sealed the win for Montverde. The LSU commit is an athletic combo guard that can shoot it off the catch and brings pop off the bounce. Went for 9 points (2-5 3 PT) and 3 dimes.

AJ Dybantsa (Prolific Prep, CA – 2025)

The best junior in America didn't disappoint in his nationally televised performance. If you drew up what a future NBA wing looks like it would be Dybantsa. He is long, out of this world athletic, skilled, and has a killer instinct. In this one he showed off his smooth offensive skill set. Early on we came away impressed with his court vision and ability to get others involved with his passing. Then he started to attack with his long strides including an and-1 on a drive through Flagg where he put him under the hoop. Explosive finisher off the dribble. The elite wing then got his jumper rolling with a trio of triples including one which he was fouled. The all-around game shown in his 21 point (8-19 FG) (3-8 3 PT), 5 rebound, and 4 dime performance showcased why he is considered the heavy favorite for the top selection in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Tyran Stokes (Prolific Prep, CA – 2026)

Stokes is the best sophomore in America and he turned it up a notch in the second half of this game. You don't realize how physically strong Stokes is until you see him in person. Strong lower half and plays with a ton of physicality. He had multiple explosive takes on drives for finishes including one where he went baseline and hammered down with one hand. Won off the bounce and got to the line. Could improve from there for how often his style of play will get him to the charity stripe (6-11 FT). Rebounds extremely well for a wing and is a tough defender. He had 12 points (3-7 FG), 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Zoom Diallo (Prolific Prep, CA – 2024 – Washington)

Diallo is headed to Washington next year as one of the top point guard prospects in the nation. His speed and ability to blow past defenders is what stands out the most. Did that against some of the premier players in the country in this game getting to the hoop for sweeping layups and finishes with either hand at the rim. Pushes in the open floor and can stop/pop in the mid-range. Good distributor that is on the money with his passing. He had 10 points (5-8 FG), 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Aiden Sherrell (Prolific Prep, CA – 2024 – Alabama)

Liked what we saw from Alabama commit last month and we could say the same in this game. Long and rangy big man is an excellent dive threat that finishes fluidly around the basket throwing down dunks. Right handed hook shots are his go to move on the block. Also had a nice offensive rebound put back for an and-1. He had 9 points (4-5 FG), 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Winters Grady (Prolific Prep, CA – 2025)

Grady gave Prolific Prep a great spark in the first quarter in this game. The sharp shooter drained three early triples finishing with four of them for 12 points (4-7 3PT). This junior is a shooter with size and those are always of value at the next level.
