The Friday Metro Combo. St. Paul Harding is 9-3 and having a really good year. They are at Highland Park who are struggling but has some good players. Highland Park senior Xaiver May is scoring 22 a game and recently went over 1,000 points for his career. Harding is led by a junior we like, Ai’john Douglas who also scores 22 a night. That game tips off at 6pm. So where to next? You can shoot up to Heritage Christian in Maple Grove as they tip off at 8:15 against West Lutheran. Or go to the Target Center where Avail Academy plays Rib Lake which must be a team from out of town. Another option is cruise to Cretin-Derham Hall to see the top ten Raiders play 7-6 Stillwater. Junior Henry Zollar Henry Zollar 6'2" | SG Stillwater | 2025 State MN is having a really nice season for the Ponies who at 7-6 are better than most expected.
Weekend’s Best. The best game of the weekend is the 10am Border Battle match-up between Solon Springs and Cherry on Saturday morning. It’s the best small school team in the state of Minnesota against the best small school team in the state of Wisconsin. Here are the match-ups:
Isaiah Asuma Isaiah Asuma 5'11" | SG Cherry | 2027 State MN vs Dylan Taggert. Asuma is the 5’11 shooter that teams must find for Cherry, Taggert is the third leading scorer for Solon Springs who will be the smallest player on the floor but a key factor.
Carson Brown Carson Brown 6'0" | PG Cherry | 2025 State MN vs Owen Smith. Brown is an all around solid player as a junior scoring in double figures, Smith is the second leading scorer for his team and the player that Solon Springs will want to get going opposite of Kastern.
Noah Sundquist Noah Sundquist 6'3" | SF Cherry | 2025 State MN vs Cade Lisson. Noah is an inch or two taller and one of the more explosive finishers in Class A basketball. He is a 20 point per game scorer. Lisson is one of five players that score five plus a game for his team.
Noah Asuma Noah Asuma 6'1" | SG Cherry | 2026 State MN vs Kaden Corlett. A pair of forwards that score just around lower double figures: Noah is a 6’3 sophomore while Kaden is a 6’3 senior. Noah is an outstanding baseball recruit with Big Ten opportunities.
Isaac Asuma Isaac Asuma 6'3" | PG Cherry | 2024 State #102 Nation MN vs Isaiah Kastern. Kastern scores nearly 30 a game at 6’5. Cherry will likely put Asuma on Kastern even though Isaac is a lead guard. Asuma limited Owen Waldoch Owen Waldoch 6'7" | PF Forest Lake | 2024 State MN and Chiang Ring Chiang Ring 6'8" | C Park Center | 2024 State #276 Nation MN who scholarship posts so Kastern will just be the latest challenge.
