Longcor has always been known as an elite shot maker with his feathery touch from the perimeter along with being able to get the shot off in the blink of an eye. The growth over the last year that has taken his game to the next level has been in his passing and handles. Longcor led UAA 16U in assists while playing with the Illinois Wolves . That has translated over to his high school team. He sees the game especially in the half court making quick reads to shooters and his big men inside. His handles have also made dramatic improvements over the last year. Crisp handles getting wherever he wants on the floor to get what he wants done.
PHI recently caught up with Longcor to discuss his junior campaign.
“I think I have been playing fine especially coming off the injury this summer. I am getting back in my groove and getting better each and every game.”
Longcor dived into his development as a player.
“I love getting people on my team wide open. Trying to make the game easier for them. I really take pride in that and have put in a lot of work in my ball handling. That creates a lot of opportunities as well.”
The guard rattled off his list of offers.
“SIU-Edwardsville, SIU, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Western Illinois, UC San Diego, SEMO.”
There are several others showing interest.
“There is a couple of them. Marquette I have talked to a little bit. Colorado State. There have been some other schools that have text me.”
Longcor got out to several schools for visits in recent months.
“Northern Iowa, Illinois State, SIU, SIU-Edwardsville, and Iowa.”
The junior guard broke down each of the visits and what stood out beginning with SIU-Edwardsville.
“I really liked how they competed in practice. I got to see them practice.”
Southern Illinois
“Their coaches. The coaches were doing the workouts with them which I thought was cool. It is a guard oriented school and I like that.”
Iowa
“Iowa was cool obviously. They are a bigger school. I got to see Brock Harding and Owen Freeman.”
Illinois State
“That was a good environment and a lot of top hoopers have been through there.”
Northern Iowa
“I liked the environment up there. It was a fun one as well.”
What will be important for the Quincy star when making his college decision?
“The way I am being played, the coaches, and the ability to play right away. I think that is one of the most important things. Being able to play my game.”
He broke down his timeline for making a potential decision.
“If I find the right school I want to commit as early as possible so probably the end of the season or around AAU season.”
