We want to give a shoutout to Chase Degraffenried Chase Degraffenried 6'2" | PG Salem Hills | 2024 State UT , Ace Reiser Ace Reiser 6'0" | PG Alta | 2024 State UT and Tiger Cuff Tiger Cuff 6'4" | CG American Fork | 2024 State UT who all had a fantastic December as well as others.
Player of the Month
6’9 W Tyrin Jones Tyrin Jones 6'9" | CG Layton Christian | 2025 State UT || Layton Christian Academy || 2025 ||
Jones has not only been lighting up the scoreboard he has been doing it in style. He has taken his level of play to a big time level. He was named MVP over at The Tarkanian Classic and he was just playing at a high level. He has some D1 offers under his belt and he is likely to get those to increase this Spring and Summer when he hits the AAU Circuits. Jones has a quick first step and when he catches the ball on the move he is tough to stay in-front of, especially with that length. Layton Christian Academy is off to an 11-2 start which is great heading into region play and they have not yet peaked and it is also safe to say that Tyrin hasn’t peaked either. Look for Jones to continue to impress. Tyrin Jones Tyrin Jones 6'9" | CG Layton Christian | 2025 State UT is December’s Player of the Month.
Debuts
We have 3 D1 guys making their debut here shortly.
Katoa is an electric two-way player that will not only add shooting and attacking ability but the one thing that he will elevate on this already talented Layton team is DEFENSE. He willl play in the gaps and get touches and tips as well as steals. He will create instant offense through his defense. Look for a few more dunks and some much improved shooting.
WELCOME BACK Chris Cox Chris Cox 6’8″ | SF Cottonwood | 2024 State UT ! After a few month stint in Arizona the strong wong is back in Utah looking to finish out his senior year with Cottonwood. That team has been playing well and they will obviously be better with Cox on the squad. He brings length and scoring ability at all-three levels. In Arizona he was in the the 30’s when it came to his ranking, but here in Utah he will likely be in the Top 10 or so. He will change 4A for sure as many teams are playing well.
The USC signee will hopefully see the floor again and hit the ground running as CCHS has really missed him, especially the schedule that they have played. His time off gave a lot of othe rplayers time to develop and figure out there role but Kozlowski should be a big lift me up as he does it all out there.
Highland over Olympus
When the year started you could say that Highland could give anyone a run for their money but Olympus has been playing very well. The production that they have been getting from Reef Smylie Reef Smylie 6'3" | CG Olympus | 2024 State UT and Will Blanch. Olympus had a good look at the end of the game they just came up short. Jordan Barnes Jordan Barnes 6'4" | PG Olympus | 2024 State UT and Dutch Dowdell Dutch Dowdell 6'6" | SG Olympus | 2024 State #310 Nation UT will reset and get things going again.
Highland on the other hand has been getting some elevated play from Isaiah Drisdom Isaiah Drisdom 6'0" | PG Highland | 2026 State UT who had an explosive night to lead his team in scoring. Sefa Brown Sefa Brown 6'5" | SF Highland | 2024 State UT and Grayson Gaddis Grayson Gaddis 6'6" | CG Highland | 2024 State UT came up clutch in this game. This team has so many options to go to when it comes to scoring. This might be the win they needed to launched them forward.
Box Elder over Bountiful
Elijah Kersey Elijah Kersey 6'1" | PG Box Elder | 2024 State UT came to play as he was electric in the win. He had 21 points and in the last few games he has really been impressive. Box Elder also received a great game from Trevor Wilkinson Trevor Wilkinson 6'3" | CG Box Elder | 2024 State UT who also dropped 20 points and has been playing well here and there. If this team can get these two to produce like that Box Elder could really surprise people.
