The 2027 class of hoopers is very underrated in my opinion and screams quality all around. Here are a couple of freshman that are under the radar and having a huge on court impact for their programs already.
2027 Cadarian Urune Cadarian Urune 6’3″ | CG Garland Rowlett | 2027 TX has been more then projected this season as a freshman for a Rowlett squad that played an ELITE pre-district schedule. I’ve caught Cadarian several times matched up with ranked players from all classes and even in his down moments the consistency as a hooper is just there. He’s recorded multiple 20 point performances and can really get going when he’s feeling it. He shoots the 3 ball at high percentages but also is super smooth attacking the basket or pulling up for short jumpers/floaters. His game gives me a Tracy Mcgrady feel and I get the feeling he’s just getting started. He should be a lock on your radar in this 2027 class moving forward especially with his 2 co-star guards both graduating out this year.
Highlights
6’7 2027 Forward Steve Mcleod has been impressive this season for Grand Prairie giving them a true post presence and especially in the rebounding category. Quickly earning his was into the starting line up his impact and size even as a freshman just can’t be denied. He’s a hassle on the boards, grabbing offensive rebound after offensive rebound for putbacks and often gets the defense in foul trouble. He’s also very mobile for his size and can run the floor making for a easy outlet for his guards. He’s recorded multiple double double’s this season and has potential to be a 20, 10 guy as just a sophomore. Defensively he’s sharp, just his presence alone may change the scheme of the opposing offense he blocks shots and slides into passing lanes using his near 7 feet wingspan (unofficial.) Steve should be on your radar not only for 2027 but has potential to be one of the top players in the state by junior year. Note he was very raw the first time I seen him play right after middle school, his confidence and skill have improved rapidly over the last year.

JuJu Minor
JuJu Minor
2027 guard JuJu Minor is probably in the most unique position out of all the freshman I’ve covered in the North Texas area so far. He’s jumped right in as freshman and carries the team load offensively. He’s recorded several 20+ point games and even 2 30+ point games and has been absolutely dominant regardless of class. Smooth handle, he can beat you with speed or power his way through guards to get exactly where he wants to put up his shots. Triple threat scorer, he can knock down the 3 ball or midrange with the best of them already. He’s also a very suffocating defender with quick hands which leads to plenty of transition baskets every game. With such monster performances not sure why this kid isn’t talked about more but one thing I know for a fact is his time is coming. 2 sport athlete Juju is on his way to holding more offers then he can handle in both basketball and football and should be on your radar in a heavily underrated 2027 class.
2027 Guard Vincient Green Vincient Green 6’0″ | CG Mesquite | 2027 TX actually didn’t start the season on varsity which is even more impressive for him to make this list. As a point guard, he looked extremely comfortable running the Mesquite offense and seemed to gain the trust of his teammates after only a couple starts for them. Smooth operator with the ball in his hands, he doesn’t get to fancy just executes his training and gets to his spots. He has unique footwork for a kid this age, even when well defended he can stop for a long distance floater or hit you with an off balance turn around and knock it down in the mid range area. He also was aggressive on defense recording a couple steals and even a block. He’s already recorded multiple 20+ point games will be elite guard in the 2027 class.
2027 Amarion Hunter Amarion Hunter 5’10” | CG Dallas Carter | 2027 State TX has had a more then solid season so far for powerhouse Carter High School. Note, they play one of the toughest schedules in the state which is enough to shake up any freshman especially at the point guard position. He’s rised to the task displaying strong ball handling & high IQ which makes him perfect for operating one of the states most athletic teams. On ball he finishes well at the rim & is much stronger then one might think based of the eye test. Off ball he provides a knock down shooter from basically anywhere on the floor and can knock down several in a row once he gets going. Defensively he’s also a pest frustrating much bigger guards in trap & man to man. Amarion seems to have the green light for next year with Carter graduating most of their impact players this year and I can’t wait to see him take over. He should be high up on your radar as far as 2027’s are concerned.
