Goodman got off to a fantastic start for the Rams, scoring 25 points in the first half of their win over Prairie. A 6-2 guard who can score from all three levels, he was a menace on the defensive end, routinely getting into passing lanes and turning defense into offense. He’s a solid shooter from the arc and he moves well without the ball in his hands. He’s capable of going either direction off the bounce and has the frame to absorb contact and finish through it at the bucket. He finished with 35 points on 13-26 shooting, knocking down 5-11 from behind the arc.
PG Maverick Inman Maverick Inman 6'2" | SG Waukee Northwest | 2025 State IA (Waukee Northwest)
Inman was extremely efficient in the Wolves’ blowout win over Liberty, scoring 15 points on 7-11 shooting. A 6-3 guard who can play with and without the ball in his hands, he’s a good playmaker off the dribble, creating shots for himself and his teammates. He finishes well at the rim with either hand and displayed a pure stroke from the arc, knocking down his only 3-point attempt on the afternoon. Where he really shined, however, was on the defensive end, coming away with 6 steals. He routinely got into passing lanes and got deflections, and on a few occasions, had a clean pick of the opposing ball-handler.
PG Damyen Jackson Damyen Jackson 6'0" | PG Assumption | 2025 State IA (Assumption)
Jackson is a quick 6-0 guard who Cedar Falls had a difficult time keeping out of the paint on Saturday afternoon, as he finished with 17 points on 7-10 shooting to go with 4 assists. He’s a quick-twitch guard with an explosive first step that he uses to blow by defenders, and he’s a strong finisher at the rim. He moves his feet well defensively and pairs his good feet with quick hands, making things uncomfortable for opposing ball-handlers.
PG Anthony Galvin Anthony Galvin 6'0" | PG Cedar Falls | 2025 State IA (Cedar Falls)
A talented 6-0 guard, Galvin was largely held in check for the first three quarters of the Tigers’ loss to Assumption, then exploded in the fourth quarter, nearly helping Cedar Falls mount a massive comeback. He finished with 23 points and 3 assists in the loss, with 17 of those points coming in the final eight minutes. He has struggled a bit with his shot so far this season, and was just 2-8 from the arc through the first three quarters before going 2-4 from 3 in the fourth, as well as 4-6 from 2-point range and 3-3 from the line. He has a quick release and shoots it really well off the dribble.
SF Kayvion Hodges Kayvion Hodges 6'3" | SF Assumption | 2025 State IA (Assumption)
Hodges may have had his best game as a Knight, going off for 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in their win over Cedar Falls. An explosive 6-1 athlete on the wing, he’s at his best when he’s in attack mode, looking to get to the rim for finishes or to find open teammates. He has a great second jump that he uses to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor, and his length and quickness is a major asset on the defensive end. He was 5-6 from the floor and 8-9 from the free-throw line.
PF Davis Kern Davis Kern 6'8" | PF Linn-Mar | 2025 State #244 Nation IA (Linn-Mar)
What continues to impress me most about Kern is the eye-popping efficiency that he posts on a nightly basis. He led the Lions against Valley with 17 points and 7 rebounds on 8-12 shooting (7-7 2P, 1-5 3P). A talented 6-8 forward who can create off the dribble, stretch the floor, and score on the block with a variety of post moves and counter moves, he’s nearly impossible to slow down at this level. He has an answer for just about any look a defense throws at him, and he’s never going to force anything. The added toughness that he’s playing with this season has taken his game to another level.
PG Xzavion Robinson Xzavion Robinson 6'1" | PG Valley | 2025 State #342 Nation IA (Valley)
Robinson made his season debut against Waukee on Friday night after missing the first handful of games recovering from a shoulder injury. He showed no ill effects of that injury in the Tigers’ win over Linn-Mar, scoring 17 points with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. A dynamic athlete who can get to the rim at will, he showed confidence in his jumper as well. His playmaking is top-notch, as his handles, quickness, and court vision are rivaled by few in the state. With his explosive athleticism, he also is able to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor despite being listed at 6-0.
SG Kyle Cason Kyle Cason 6'0" | SG Valley | 2025 State IA (Valley)
The glue guy for the Tigers, Cason does a little bit of everything for them. He plays solid defense, both on and off the ball, rotating well and communicating on that end of the floor. He continues on the glass, keeps the ball moving on the offensive end, knocks down his open looks from 3, and looks more comfortable creating looks for himself and his teammates off the dribble this season. He had 13 points on 4-11 shooting to go with 7 rebounds against the Lions.
PG Trey McKowen Trey McKowen 5'11" | PG Kennedy | 2025 State IA (Kennedy)
McKowen was in complete control on both ends of the floor in Kennedy’s win over Waukee, finishing with 15 points on 6-13 shooting to go with 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. A tough lefty guard who plays bigger than his 5-11 listed height, he doesn’t back down from anyone and is a tenacious defender who is one of the catalysts of a dynamic defensive team.
