Here are some 2027s from the KC area who are already making a name for themselves (in alphabetical order):
Will Davis, 6-foot-7 forward, 2027, Blue Valley North:
A big man getting this kind of experience at the 6A level looks to be going places. It’s safe to bet Davis will quickly develop into one of the top players in KC if not the state. He’s a long lefty who moves the ball well and defends the rim. He’s scoring efficiently around the goal and holding up against the older competition.
Conor Kerrigan Conor Kerrigan 6'4" Shawnee Mission South | 2027 KS , 6-foot-4 forward, 2027, Shawnee Mission South:
We loved this guy’s game at the Freshman Expo. But you never know exactly how quickly a guy can find playing time at the varsity level. In Kerrigan’s case it didn’t take long. With some talented bigs on the front line for the Raiders, Kerrigan is working into the rotation nicely and making a big impact. You don’t get playing time for a top 10 team in 6A unless you’re really good. This guy is smooth, crafty, powerful and relentless.
Liam Tesmer Liam Tesmer 5'9" | PG Bishop Miege | 2027 KS , 5-foot-9 guard, 2027, Bishop Miege (pictured):
Miege had a rebuilding project this year, and Tesmer has stepped in. He’s not just getting minutes, he’s balling out. He’s had some big scoring outings. He is a fearless ball handler who can create his own shots. He is just as dynamic at the defensive end because he’s strong, quick and can explode when the ball’s not protected.
Mekhi Stephens, 6-foot-3 forward, 2027, Lansing:
Stephens is physically developed and powerful. He isn’t afraid to mix it up in the lane with older bigs. He can finish in traffic and go get the ball in the air. His team needs a lift in the paint, and Stephens is providing.
Anthony Taylor, 5-foot-10 guard, 2027, KC-Wyandotte:
A highly skilled guard who making plays for a building team, Taylor isn’t backing down from the competition. He’s had several 20-plus point outings. He’s learning on the job and has held up well. He’s averaging 11 points and a couple of assists.
