Here were the freshmen standouts from the week

[player_tooltip player_id='2146280' first='Taj' last='Deloney'] Mesquite (Pictured)

A pure point guard has one of the tighter handles in the class as the ball is clearly on a string for him. The southpaw can pass it to his teammates on a rope. He can make the three off the catch with a high arc, he has the tear drop and can crossover into a pull-up. He has break neck speed on the break and often looks to throw the pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133646' first='Myles' last='Godfrey'] Cactus Shadows

He didn't get a huge amount of playing time on varsity but enough to see what he brings to the court. When he comes in, the pace of the team immediately quickens up with him. He will throw darts up the court and has a tight handle and plus length. Look for him to make a big leap in production and playing time next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2332290' first='Amir' last='Kendrick'] Cesar Chavez

A true point guard with a tight handle. He can split defenders and throw the dime as a very good passer. He is a little flashy with his one hand passes but very talented. He will slip it into the post after he gets by his initial defender or throw opposite side passes look effortless. He scores with floaters, he rebounds well for a guard and he actually iced the game with FT's to get the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='2329552' first='Jamai' last='Berry'] Buckeye

A thicker framed freshman power forward is hard to move. He will block shots and uses his frame/build to gain position and corral the board and go up to score. He handles it decently in the open court and can face-up from the elbow and in.

[player_tooltip player_id='2330555' first='Keyo' last='Carranza'] Mesquite

A quick on quick combo guard can get downhill and shoot it. He has a true burst to get by his initial defender and a sharp mid-range game off the dribble. He has an easy free throw stroke with a scoring attitude. He dribbles with his left hand just effectively as his right. He is great in the passing lanes to collect steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2331641' first='Jackson' last='Kragel'] Cactus Shadows

A skilled wing forward with length. He will shoot it from the three off the catch. He is a sneaky good passer and uses his length in the passing lanes. The freshman is one to monitor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2330556' first='Noah' last='Garven'] Mesquite

A scoring combo guard for the Wildcats. He has blow by speed with his tight handle and good skill to shoot the three off the catch or pull. He made a couple nice up the court passes and can get down the lane and float it in. The younger brother of Christian has upside once he fills in.

[player_tooltip player_id='2329553' first='Zavion' last='Lee'] Washington

A true point guard is a little undersized but he sees the court well and will make pinpoint passes to his teammates. He has good skill to shoot the three with a quick release. He rebounds decently despite being leaner. He made some impressive passes look easy.

[player_tooltip player_id='2330557' first='Eric' last='Roberts'] Mesquite

A longer forward can play and defend multiple positions. He can step out and shoot the three and also rip thru and score in the paint with a couple counter moves to utilize. He rebounds well in his area and makes smart decisions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2329554' first='Jaylen' last='Freida'] Washington

A combo guard with speed and a defensive mindset. He can be a ball hawk with his quick hands and feet. He is a fluid ball handler who can take it coast to coast. He will score layups with his right or left hand in traffic.
