In its second year in a new locale. The Gotta Get It Hoops Classic delivered an ambitious seven game lineup featuring the best teams from across the entire state. Following are standouts from the AM slate of games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1437538' first='Lance' last='Stone'] 5-8 2025 Detroit Renaissance A simply electric performance from perhaps the most dynamic playmaker in the entire state. Had it all working on Saturday afternoon. Got wherever he wanted off the dribble. Finished with a game high 30 points. However it was the passing that really stood out. Excelled in passing off the dribble. The suddenness with a simple flick of the wrist caught defenders off guard. Despite his size, was able to penetrate deep without getting into trouble. Always had a safety valve on strong kick out passes. Had a few highlight reel dimes. Including a behind the back pass on the break that had the gym buzzing. Hit em with a little old school as well. Streaked through the lane and connected on legitimate hook shot over much taller defenders. Showed a devastating hesitation dribble that I'm not sure how you stop. Also scored his 1,000th point of his career in the contest. A banner day all around for the diminutive point guard with an extremely bright future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1793647' first='Jordan' last='Sigmon'] 6-2 2026 Detroit Renaissance (pictured) Last I saw Sigmon he was dropping a 40 piece over Christmas. While he didn't produce that type of performance Saturday. He did nothing to stop his ascent to the top of the 2026 rankings. A mature and composed three level scorer already as a sophomore. Plays like a seasoned veteran. Seemed to recognize that his teammate Stone was cooking with gas on the afternoon. Played off him well and knew where to find his spots. Is left handed but excels going both directions. Changes direction quickly and suddenly. While also showing the ability to stop on a dime. Has a diverse set of finishes at the rim. Including a scoop shot that he used to get under Kalamazoo Central's big frontline (see below)

[player_tooltip player_id='1796744' first='Isaiah' last='Theodile'] 6-7 2026 Kalamazoo Central The young post really stood on he defensive end. Hedged out hard often on the Phoenix's collection of standout guards. Was able to use both his foot speed and length to disrupt sets at times. Offensively showed aggression and assertiveness late to get the Maroon Giants back in it as Renaissance seemed to be pulling away. Standout exchange was a hard show that led to a big block. Followed by controlling the block and going coast to coast to draw a foul. Has a soft left handed touch around the basket. Bigs always develop at a difference pace than guards. When the offense catches up to the defense this could be a special prospect. There is just so much to work with already.

[player_tooltip player_id='1143391' first='Merritt' last='Alderink'] 6-7 2024 Zeeland West The Indiana St commit didn't necessarily stuff the stat sheet or even score in double figures. However he did what his team needed. Allowing the Dux to decisively hand the defending Division I state champs their first loss of the season. Flashed to the center of the Cass Tech zone press. Often breaking it with precision passing and decision making. Got people out of their seats with a huge finish off a lob in the first half. Showing off the above the rim athleticism that makes him a Division I recruit. The bounce and energy he brought less than 24 hours after a loss to Muskegon shows good conditioning and mental fortitude. Type of profile that could really pop at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1300885' first='Bryce' last='O'Mara'] 6-7 2024 Grand Blanc One of the better all around games I have seen from the versatile stretch four prospect. Has always been an above average shooter. However really flashed the all around game. Was more than just a spot up shooter. Moved with purpose off the ball and came off screens well. Especially on a high flare pop out in the second half. Caught the ball in the shooting position and has the well schooled footwork to get it off quickly. Went down into post late when it was needed. Finished with 10 points. However, had the type of game where it felt like more. Quite a second win for the Bobcats who are off to a rough start on the season. However with O'Mara and an emerging set of young guards you can never count out Grand Blanc.
