Being named a Carmody Classic MVP or All-Carmody Classic Team member has become quite a distinction. Let’s take a look at the players that brought home these designations this year.
MVP’S
Ode’s team was victorious at the Carmody Classic and he had a record setting day in the process. Heritage earned a hard fought win, 66-62 against Hamady. Ode led the way with a game high 29 points. Ode carries an excellent reputation as an explosive vertical athlete and a powerful perimeter player, but at the Carmody Classic, he showed off his stroke from the outside. He buried an event record 7 triples.
Sigmon, in my opinion, has been pretty underrated. This young man has an elite game and elite upside. You could see it at the Carmody Classic as dominated offensively, scoring 35 points and winning the Most Outstanding player at the event. The Renaissance guard was electric in the 74-66 win against Carman-Ainsworth. He controlled his defender with his handles and his fast first step created space.
Devin Lee Devin Lee 6’3″ | SG Detroit Catholic Central | 2025 State MI has grabbed everybody’s attention. It was a big win on a big stage for Detroit Catholic Central and Lee helped lead the charge. DCC was hot on the night and Lee scorched the nets for a game high 29 points. The offense really hummed throughout the game and Lee’s athletic shooting was a big part of that.
Regnerus had a huge day in an impressive win against Grand Blanc. He finished with a 16 rebound, 15 point and 10 block triple-double. That is dominating the paint at it’s finest. This game was a prime example of why Regnerus should be considered one of the top and one of the most influential defenders in the state of Michigan. He just allowed so few clean looks or second chance buckets.
