I’ve already snuck into the back gym a few times and been pleasantly surprised by the talent I’ve seen. Here’s a look at some of the top JV/Frosh players I’ve had the chance to evaluate.
Highlights
Randall provides a glimpse into the future of Boulder. The freshman stands nearly 6’4 and has some solid skill. Like Nwapa, he’s navigated the transition from back gym play to Varsity.
Pharris is a player to keep an eye on. Saw him display his talents during Mojave’s event, and I was impressed with his offensive skill. He’s one of the better handlers, passers, and shooters that I saw in the back gym.
Canyon really allows their young players to develop and I think this will be great for Tolbert. The big man is a raw work in progress that could be ready to take off. The lefty can score both inside and outside, making him one of top back gym inside| outside options.
Highlights
Rogers is an emerging freshman that had himself a game when I went to watch his Canyon Team play. He has terrific instincts, gets off the ground quickly and has a knack for the dramatic. The freshman won the game I saw with a clutch 15 foot jumper.
The best way to describe Lindamen’s game is crafty. The lefty is a strong driver, with the ability to manufacture points. He can score off the bounce, make open shots in catch and shoot action, and shows a ton of toughness, mixing it up down low.

Gittey is one of the best young shooters, that I’ve seen in the back gym. He was lights out in the game I watched, knocking down three clutch corner threes for his Desert Oasis squad.
Highlights
I really enjoyed watching Kidd’s flare for the dramatic. He came in late for Desert Oasis, and come up with some clutch buckets. His ability to score in transition, and win 50/50 balls made him one of the toughest backroom gems I saw.
