I liked what I saw from Trey Tolbert in Brotherhood’s game against Vegas Showtime. He was scoring in a variety of ways. Hitting jumpers, a 3 ball, and using post moves on the block to score. He finished the game with an efficient 20 points. On the other end of the court, he marked his man well and consistently contested shots. It was a solid all around performance from him.

has gotten a lot better this year. He has started to play with more confidence, which has led to him producing more. I’ve noticed him gaining position more regularly against defenders, and he’s using good moves to get his shots up. Tolbert has also been collecting more rebounds and scoring second chance points

Saw Tolbert last month, as he continues his development. Now standing at 6’4 plus he is an intriguing potential prospect with some skill. He has a soft touch around the basket, but is an aware, attentive, willing passer.

For a player as powerful as Tolbert, it’s his finesse that stands out. The forward is a cerebral facilitator with the ability to quickly identify and then hit teammates with accurate interior passes. He’s in the top 40 but because of his size and passing ability, his ceiling is easily in the top 25.

Got a look at the rising sophomore. Tolbert has decent offensive skill, however on this day what was most impressive was his ability to rebound the ball. The lefty was strong around the tin, fighting off multiple opponents to rip down boards.

You can usually find Tolbert running with one of the local teams. There will be eyes on the big lefty this weekend. He plays with a bit of physicality, but what should draw attention is his ability to pass the ball and knock down mid range shots.

Saw quite a bit of Tolbert during the high school season, as he was a contributor to Canyon Springs freshman and junior varsity squads. The lefty has good instincts, and uses them to create plays for himself and teammates. His passing ability may be the skill that helps him emerge the most.

Canyon really allows their young players to develop and I think this will be great for Tolbert. The big man is a raw work in progress that could be ready to take off. The lefty can score both inside and outside, making him one of top back gym inside| outside options.
