Fred Barbary (5’10/PF/’30/William Dandy MS)
IG: Fbtherawest
X: @Fbtherawest
Fred has good positional size for his grade and was a strong interior presence throughout the day. He made his mark on the defensive end of the floor as he did a fantastic job protecting the rim with his shot-blocking ability. He maneuvered well around the paint, and players looking to score in the paint had to keep watch for Fred coming looking to swat their shot. His offensive game is still under development and should be an area of focus throughout the coming months.
Hayden McMickle (5’3/CG/’29/Charlie Walker MS)
IG: Hayden0mcmickle_
Hayden was a tough cover for defenders as he constantly got to the paint off the bounce. He made good decisions with the rock in traffic as he often sprayed to open shooters. When he wasn’t dishing the rock, he was getting to the cup and finishing amongst the trees. He did a good job not over-penetrating and took the mid-range pull-up J, which was often open off his dribble penetration. He put a lot of pressure on defenders throughout the day by constantly looking for gaps to penetrate.
Kyler Ambrose Kyler Ambrose 5'1" | PG FL (5’5/PG/’28/Saint Gregory)
IG: Kjamrbose1
KJ is a multi-level scorer with a lot of talent. He is an emerging two-way prospect preparing for life at the high school level and has the skill set to develop into a top floor general in the state. He is unselfish but can score at a high level when opportunities present themselves. He stands at 5’5, but don’t let that fool you because he plays with a lot of tenacity and grit. Defensively, he is very active with his hands and was racking up steals throughout camp.
Eddie Rios, III. (5’4/PG/’30/MKD Academy)
IG: thereal_rios3
Eddie is an exciting young PG with a good balance between scoring and facilitating. He is a good orchestrator, is patient with the rock, and allows the game to flow instead of trying to force the action as many his age often do. He has good vision and court awareness and knows how to create opportunities for his teammates. Eddie has crafty handles that were on display as he got to the cup often. He has a developing repertoire, and it is going to be fun watching his growth over the next few years.
Jaedyn Brown (5’9/SG/’28/Nova MS)
IG: jae_2rare
Jaedyn is an emerging hard-playing prospect to keep an eye on over the next year as he enters high school. He was at his best when slashing his way to the rim and putting up numbers. He has a high level of awareness of the floor and what is going on with the other nine players. He knows how to get his shot and how to get shots for his teammates based on what the defense is trying to do. He has a nice floater game and was difficult to keep out of the interior of the defense.
Thomas Quesada Thomas Quesada 5'6" | PG FL (5’6/PG/’29/St. Gregory)
IG: Thomasquesada2029
Thomas is a solid young player who does a lot of things well. He isn’t a flashy player, but his play impacts the game. He can score from the perimeter, handle the rock, create for others, and facilitate the offense. As I said, he is not the flashiest player, and he has some inconsistencies, but he made plays throughout the games that showed his ability and potential, which made it hard to ignore him. He has work to do when it comes to specific physical attributes, such as his speed and agility, and as he begins to see improvement in these areas, he will see improvement in his overall game.
Oliver Kopittke (5’11/SG/’28/Omni Middle School)
IG: oliver_kopittke
Oliver got to camp a little late as he was coming from a game he had earlier, and when he got in, it was an instant fit as he stepped right in, making an impact. He is an unselfish player who looks to get his teammates involved and looks to get the rock into their hands in places where they can be the most successful. He is a heady player who is skilled at orchestrating the offense. He doesn’t dance much with the ball, but he understands where he is looking to go on the floor and how to get there. He doesn’t overwhelm you when you see him play, but he is consistently making plays, making it hard for you to not keep your eyes on him. He is definitely a player that I will be keeping my eyes on over the next few years.
