Continue ReadingThis was a night that started off extraordinarily pregame and was followed by an out of this world experience. Luke Gray Luke Gray 6'7" | PF Oklahoma Christian | 2024 State OK broke Blake Griffin’s career scoring record for the school earlier in the week. This was honored with a great video tribute and standing ovation before the game. He had a game that was a storybook ending to a storybook night. I will go into details later in the article, but it is something that you won’t want to miss. As for the game, it was completely dominated by Oklahoma Christian School. Early on, Harding Charter Prep made a small run to tied the game at 9-9, but this was quickly answered by OCS. The final score of the game was 92-68.
Luke Gray Luke Gray 6’7″ | PF Oklahoma Christian | 2024 State OK could not have drawn tonight up any better. After being honored for passing Blake Griffin’s scoring record for the school, he had an epic performance. Out of the gates he made his impact felt: scoring 25 points by halftime, 43 points at the end of the 3rd, and finished with 50 points. He subbed out with a few minutes left, but would have probably pushed 60 points if he played the end of the game. He was showing the ability to position himself well to receive the ball. When he did not do this, he was using his strength and athleticism to finish in traffic or through contact. When he was not finishing through contact, some of his finishes at the rim were crazy dunks. I remember one play he took one dribble past the defender and finished with a dunk on the other side of the rim. He was dominating the paint, which helped lead to him having multiple three-point play opportunities throughout the game. Not only was he scoring inside at will, he showed the ability to knock down the three. Averaging 18.9 points per game and shooting 37% from three point range on the season, he has shown that this is not a fluke. His impacted expanded beyond his shooting, as he dominated the glass. I do not have the exact number, but he had roughly 15 rebounds in this game. Another thing about his game is that he was willing to look for the open man, even when they had missed a shot. His leadership expanded beyond this, as he was constantly uplifting his teammates when they made a mistake or was feeling down. The last place that he impacted was his defense. He came away with several blocks and great shot contests. One thing that was under the radar about him is that he demonstrated the ability to rotate over with great timing to prevent an easy basket. It was a great game from him in every area.

He grabbed a couple of rebounds and showed good vision with his passing. He had a few assists throughout the game, but had other good opportunities that his teammates would miss. The bulk of his scoring came with his finishing inside. He showed the ability to cut well, which led to him having a couple of good finishes at the rim. Not only did he cut well, he showed the ability to run in transition, which led to him being able to finish at the rim. He did a little bit of everything throughout this game.
