These are players that are having big games, making huge impacts or simply cracking the top 5-7 rotation as a sophomore at a big school. We believe all these players are future stars in the making if they aren’t already and have bright futures including playing at the next level.
Zayveous Hall is one of our favorite players we’ve seen this year. Providing alot of energy coming off the bench for St Albans, Hall heats things up immediately on both ends. We believe he could be one of the premier point guards going forward if he puts the work in. The motor and athletic ability are obvious.
Tavarish Porter-Martin Tavarish Porter-Martin 6’0″ | CG South Charleston | 2026 State WV currently plays on a talented South Charleston roster, but adds support off the bench and his skills can be seen easily. A skilled ball handler and passer, Porter-Martin can break down defenses and create for himself or others. Look for this youngster to make a bigger impact down the stretch going into sectionals.
Ashton Arthur Ashton Arthur 6’0″ | CG Independence | 2026 State WV has burst onto the basketball scene. While at a school that has taken on a football identity of late, Arthur is one of the guys helping put basketball back in the conversation around Independence High School. Already being leading scorer multiple times Arthur has shown he’s one of WV’s best 2026 players.
Eli Smith Eli Smith 6’5″ | PF Lincoln County | 2026 State WV is one of the players we should be most excited about. The multi-skilled forward has skills on the whole floor and it shows. We were lucky enough to see him in person once this year and had great admiration at his skill and athleticism at a young age. Smith will certainly become one of WV’s top players by his senior year and have a real shot at a career past high school.

Anden Santamaria Anden Santamaria 6’7″ | PF Musselman | 2026 State WV is a super exciting player form the Eastern panhandle who we’ve been very excited about. His length and athleticism while playing post/forward is something that basketball fans adore. He’s also very comfortable playing face up and making moves to the bucket. Santamaria should rate out as an athletic 4 at the next level if he continues to develop.

Akwasi Opoku-Achampong Akwasi Opoku-Achampong 5’8″ | PG Spring Mills | 2026 State WV is already an impact player for the state’s top team. Coming into games and being able to give energy and push the ball up the floor and distribute to one of Spring Mills many scorers might sound easy but playing their top level schedule and making those plays is what’s impressive. We’d expect Akwasi to fill any role he needs to going forward and continue to be the floor general whether in a starting or off the bench role.
