There were plenty of newcomers.
Here are 5 key newcomers into the latest installment:
D.J. McIntyre, Bartlett: The 6-foot-4 wing debuted inside the top 40 at No. 38. McIntyre had to wait his turn in the Panthers program. Dating back to last season, the Freed Hardeman commit showed in spurts of how well he can knock down shots from the perimeter in a reserve role. This season as a starter, McIntyre has been efficient from the field. He’s made big shots, some of his most memorable ones came against Cordova in an overtime thriller. The effort is there on both ends of the floor. McIntyre is a late bloomer to most people, but he’s here now.
Connor Mancell, Briarcrest: Mancell landed just outside the top 100 at No. 106. The 6-0 guard has been a plus for the Saints this season, giving the team another shooter on the floor to pair alongside with Belmont commit Cooper Haynes Cooper Haynes 6'3" | SG Briarcrest Christian | 2024 State TN . Briarcrest has great spacing on the floor this season, and Mancell’s shot making ability and ability to get into the paint and finish has helped the Saints offense be efficient and difficult to stop.
Emanuel Allen, Ridgeway: The 6-6 forward debuted at No. 50. Allen has been consistent this season and difficult to guard. Allen finishes well around the rim and can make shots from 15-feet out. Allen is very active on the glass and thrives on second-chance opportunities. The senior is currently averaging 16.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this season. Allen is definitely one of the 50 best players in this class.
Robert Dawkins, MHEA: Dawkins debuted at No. 101. Here’s a 6-5 forward with a niche for providing bright spots on both ends of the floor. Dawkins rebounds the basketball very well. He has upper body strength and long arms, so Dawkins can be disruptive on defense. Dawkins is great at getting putbacks. He’s an all-around fierce competitor whose effort is sky high on every possession.
Jay Tyler, Cordova: Tyler made a high debut, coming in at No. 19. One more update to the senior class will take place, and Tyler could make a leap. The 5-11 guard has been impressive since he’s been in a Wolfpack uniform. Tyler is very smooth offensively. Defenses have to know where he is on the floor at all times, because of his shot making ability. Tyler wants to play defense and because of his size, he has to be a pest in that area. Tyler is the third wheel alongside Julius Thedford and Emerson Tenner, but on some nights he can be the driver or ride shotgun. Either way, Tyler is going to be productive.
