As usual, the WNIT took place the first weekend of the season and this year it featured some of 5A's best. We had the opportunity to soak in some action all three days including most of the championship side of the bracket, where Wilsonville kept the title at home with a 62-54 win over upstart North Marion who should be one of the top challengers in 4A. Here are some more top performers from the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1457596' first='Ian' last='Prictor'] (2024 Mountain View)

It was very evident at the WIT how much Prictor has improved over the off-season. The 6-foot-7 post was super strong in the paint, confident with his post moves, and utilizing his raw size to his advantage to finish well around the hoop. There were times where he simply couldn't be stopped one-on-one down low and over the course of the three days, he scored 61 points. We caught up with Prictor at the tournament and will have an update posted soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1495286' first='India' last='Mohiuddin'] (2024 North Eugene)

Mohiuddin seems to embrace the role of instant offense with the Highlanders. This was clear from the start of the tournament in North Eugene's first game when after he sat out the first half due to team rules, he quickly piled up 18 points in the second half. The senior guard is fearless taking the ball to the hoop especially in transition, and showed the ability to get hot from three-point range as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110575' first='Joey' last='Banry'] (2024 North Eugene)

It was a solid WIT for Banry, who continued to prove himself as one of the top point guards in the state. The senior was super crafty with the basketball, keeping defenders off balance to get into the lane for mid-range jumpers, or find open teammates for scores. Defensively he held his own often against bigger guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1908826' first='Dawson' last='Schrenk'] (2024 North Marion)

While [player_tooltip player_id='1368276' first='Cole' last='Hammack'] is unquestionably the star of the Huskies, he can't do it all alone and Shrenk was a solid number two offensive option. The senior excels in the catch-and-shoot game but not only showed the ability to knock down standstill jumpers but also come off of screens for shots as well. In addition at times, Shrenk would back down defenders one-on-one and use a turnaround fadeaway for buckets too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2044867' first='Jaydan' last='Hermogenes'] (2025 Ashland)

Hermogenes was the breakout star of the tournament. The junior guard turned heads and caught eyes with his quickness and shiftiness with his handle, which helped him beat defenders off the dribble to the hoop for scores or feeds to others for baskets. He showed good touch with his shot and was particularly clutch hitting threes with little time left on the shot block.
