Brayden Helmick Brayden Helmick 6’6″ | C Notre Dame | 2026 State WV is starting to show why Prep Hoops has him ranked as the top true Center in the 2026 class. In two games this past week he posted 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks in a win vs South Harrison. Helmick also put up 12 points, 10 rebounds with 5 assists and 2 blocks in a loss to Trinity. Helmick appears to be living up to the top billing of the 2026 class Center.
Isaac Meddings Isaac Meddings 6’0″ | CG Wayne | 2025 State WV continues to terrorize defenses with two outstanding performances this past week. First with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 assists vs. Sissonville. Meddings also had a big night vs. Buffalo with 26 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. Meddings is starting to force a push up through the rankings.
Highlights
Watts is averaging an astounding 38 points and 10 rebounds per contest to date. An absurd stat line average considering he’s a 6’2″ guard. If you haven’t seen Watts play, you should. He’s super athletic, bouncy and has great skills on the court. Rarely matched with those attributes is a dead eye shooting range from deep that’s put up big time shooting numbers from three. Watts has posted 14 in a tough loss to A favorite Tug Valley, has posted box score numbers as follows: 39pts/10reb, 48 (12 3’s) 10reb, 27pts/11reb and a 13/12/10 triple double.
Highlights
Ashton Gute lit up the gym Friday night pouring in 33 points with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals while grabbing tournament MVP vs Hannan. Gute has had a more than solid 2023 starting in spring through summer and fall extending into school season.
Parker Schramm is picking up where he left off in production last year. In a come for behind win vs cross county big school rival Parkersburg High School, Schramm poured in 26 points including 7 triples, with 3 steals and 3 assists. Schramm has been steady and lights out so far this season no matter the level of competition.
MJ Patton is starting to light things up in Mercer County as well as away game gymnasiums. Patton blistered the bucket last week in multiple contests including: vs Summers County 13 points, 4 rebs, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 charge. Vs Princeton High School 14 points, 3 rebs, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block. Vs Pikeview High School 24 points, 3 rebs, 3 assists, 5 steals.
Highlights
Jayden Bryant pumped in 20 points and 4 rebounds and 2 assists in a come from behind win vs big school Parkersburg High School as well as a 21 point performance vs AA St Mary’s. Bryant is a real matchup problem for defenders on any level due to his size, first step and pull up jumper abilities. Bryant will be a popular name in recruiting circles in the next twelve months.
Highlights
Braydun Ferris is continuing to lead WV’s top single A program as well as put himself in conversation as one of WV’s top single A players. Ferris pumped in 25 points (18 in second half) vs rival Tolsia last week. Ferris also dished 8 assists while committing zero turnovers.
