Ervin does a lot of his damage around the rim and he kept that up last week against Cheney. He continues to show improved post play and understanding of how to attack defenders with different moves. One play in particular stood out when he stepped through a double team down low, kept the ball high while splitting defenders, and finished through contact for the and-one. And while his play in the paint is generally what gets the attention, it was his 3-point shooting that stepped up in this one. He knocked down at least four triples I saw, stepping into a couple and hitting another off the dribble.
The reigning PCL MVP is back and part of a tough Lincoln team. He’s extremely tough in the paint, with a strong upper body to power through contact and score through longer players. Boston also shows a good array of skills that translate to the perimeter, handling the ball, defending out there and showing he can hit shots from the arc. He plays some real bully ball inside at times but still has the finesse to hurt you in various ways.
There have been real glimpses of how Harris’ game could develop and after watching him against Arlington, it looks like he’s starting to take that next step. He shot with more consistency and confidence from 3-point, looked a little quicker defending on the perimeter, and overall was able to impact the game for longer stretches. Offensively, he’s a true stretch four who continues to get better at attacking off the dribble.
Highlights
Against Auburn, Stephens looked strong, explosive, and was a serious threat in transition. Whether he’s filling lanes or running the break himself, his size, speed, creativity and strength make him a tough guy to stop when he has a head full of steam and some space. He also continued to show a good defensive work rate as well as some touch around the paint.
