Top Three
The guys that have taken the steps forward are the following three. They might not be big steps but they have had the early year moments to get out in front.
Jackson McAndrew Jackson McAndrew 6'10" | PF Wayzata | 2024 State #24 Nation MN of Wayzata. Jackson and the Ghost Screen! McAndrew scored 27 in a top ten win over Shakopee plus McAndrew recently had 22 and 13 respectively in blowout/early seat wins over Prior Lake and Chaska. McAndrew also has the step ahead of all having beat TG while Park Center lost to TG.
Casmir Chavis Casmir Chavis 6'2" | PG Park Center | 2024 State #170 Nation MN of Park Center. After getting hurt in the opening minutes against Armstrong (and having to miss the rest of the game), Cash responded with 19 points, six boards and eight assists in a win over BSM in front of a packed house, and then lived at the foul line on his way to an unofficial 30 in front of a packed house at TG last night.
Isaac Asuma Isaac Asuma 6'3" | PG Cherry | 2024 State #102 Nation MN of Cherry. Asuma took over down the stretch against a top opponent again! Against Superior, one of the better teams in Wisconsin, Asuma had the go ahead basket, late game foul shots, and the game winning charge take in a one score win (53-51 with silly Wisconsin rules). Asuma had 20 points and 7 assists in the slower, shorter Wisconsin game and then had 20 points and five assists in a running time, 36 point win over Moose Lake-Willow River (MLWR’s first L of the year).
Next Three for Final Five
Grayson Grove Grayson Grove 6'9" | PF Alexandria Area | 2024 State #171 Nation MN of Alexandria. The monster season from Grove continues as he is now averaging 23.5 points and 13 rebounds a game for an Alexandria team that is top five in state. Last weekend Alex knocked off Delano and Sauk Rapids-Rice led by Grove double doubles in the twentys and teens.
Jack Robison Jack Robison 6'7" | SF Lakeville North | 2024 State #158 Nation MN of Lakeville North. Jack has come up big in big games. Had the 34 against East Ridge, 27 against Shakopee this week, and a great performance against PC until Chavis took over. He also had 25 against a Wisconsin team, and then 17 going against the Duke committed Kon Knueppel.
Daniel Freitag Daniel Freitag 6'1" | PG Breck | 2024 State #142 Nation MN of Breck. We know Breck is undefeated and number one, we know they beat Minneapolis North last night and Daniel had 11 at the half, and we know he had 24 in the win over Alex and 11 in the Apple Valley blowout win. We don’t see anything from Breck on the Hub or on twitter though from the North win.
Isaiah Johnson Isaiah Johnson 6'7" | SF Totino-Grace | 2024 State #135 Nation MN of Totino-Grace. Johnson is scoring 20 a game to lead the top ranked Eagles. Johnson had an important 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists last night in an all around performance helping the Eagles get a big win over Park Center.
Top Contenders
Andy Stefonowicz Andy Stefonowicz 6'2" | PG Minnetonka | 2024 State MN of Minnetonka. Andy had 21 points, six rebounds, and nine assists against Osseo pushing Tonka past Osseo getting the Skippers to 4-0 on the season. He also had 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the win over South which was another big game scenario.
Chiang Ring Chiang Ring 6'8" | C Park Center | 2024 State #276 Nation MN of Park Center. Chiang Ring Chiang Ring 6'8" | C Park Center | 2024 State #276 Nation MN had 19 points, 9 boards and 7 blocks as the game MVP in the weekend win over BSM. Did not have a great night last night against TG but still the best lob threat and shot blocker in the state.
Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen 6'9" | C Minneapolis Washburn | 2024 State #308 Nation MN of Minneapolis Washburn. Going head to head with future teammate Johnathan Mekonnen, Jorgensen had 34 points and 11 rebounds in a big game spot. Unfortunately Washburn is not turning in numbers into the hub or on twitter so we are not sure how well he’s doing throughout the season.
New Name to Watch
Brandon Hrncir Brandon Hrncir 6'8" | PF Farmington | 2024 State MN of Farmington. Hrnicr has Farmington in the top five in Class AAAA and they just beat Lakeville South by 40. Hrncir is leading the way with 22.7 points a game and always rebounding at a high level. Playing his way into Class AAAA first team so far. Headed to USF.
