Although his team suffered a close defeat to the Perkiomen School, Gellene caught the eyes of coaches and scouts in attendance as he proved to be a big time scoring threat. Gellene got hot early from behind the arc and later used that to his advantage as he was able to get in the paint off his shot fake; a good number of his baskets came off mid-range jumpers. He also showed the ability to facilitate as a secondary ball-handler, making the right play when his scoring opportunities weren’t available.
Highlights
Yapo, playing his first season in the United States, has a game reminiscent of a throwback big. The broadly built forward has a motor that never stops and is an explosive vertical athlete. He profiles as an undersized five right now, but one who is more than capable of switching ball-screens defensively or playing off two bounces on the offensive end. He runs the floor hard in transition, rebounds above the rim, and tries to dunk everything.

While Cushing Academy ultimately dropped their morning showdown with South Kent, Johnson proved to be more than up to the challenge. The lefty is a true combo guard who was able to play on the ball when needed, but thrived as an off ball threat, especially in transition. Johnson’s game was built around his ability to get into the paint and play off pivots and shot fakes. He showed that he can score in a variety of ways in the paint and was particularly effective going to his right and finishing with a floater.
Davis was the day’s earliest stock riser, going toe to toe early on with a South Kent frontcourt that’s loaded with Division I signees. Another throwback big, David is a physical, big-bodied five man that really pursues rebounds on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he did a good job walling up in the paint and boxing out more athletic rebounders. Offensively, he has great hands, catching everything thrown his way and does a good job using his body to create space to get his shot off in the paint.
