<p>It's tournament time across the country for high school basketball as 2023 wraps up, and the Sun City has been no different, with multiple programs serving as host sites for some holiday tournament games. Riverside High School held its Holiday tournament in East El Paso from December 27-28. The participants included Riverside (host), Immanuel Christian, Irvin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Anthony, Chaparral, and Bowie High School. Below are the top performers from the Riverside Tournament. </p>

Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1778981' first='Johan' last='Camacho'] had a lot to do with that putting up 21-points in an opening round upset against a 15-3 Immanuel Christian School. It might seem unjust to recognize a player in such a manner given that his team lost all three games they played. However, Perez was phenomenal from start to finish, averaging 25.3 points per game, shooting 50 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from three. In Immanuel Christian's second game against Gadsden, Perez dropped a career high 40-points, hitting an insane nine 3-pointers. The senior guard was pivotal in the Wildcats nail-biting 47-43 opening round win against tournament host Riverside, scoring 17-points. Solis is a solid secondary ball handler for Anthony who likes to score from the perimeter and can put the ball on the floor when given the chance. The Wildcats point guard was solid all tournament long averaging 13.3 points per game and a game high 24-points against the top seeded Chaparral High school in the semifinals. Junior Ben Story averaged 14.6 points per game for the tournament, including a team high 19-points in the Warriors final game against Irvin High School. Story is a prototypical catch and shoot 2-guard who has a solid mid-range game off the dribble.
