Lewiston-Altura over Lake City 67-64. Lewiston-Altura was 10-17 last year and graduated two or three starters. Lake City lost two games last year and they are a top 2-3 team coming into this season in Class AA. This wasn’t just a night one upset, this game might hold up as one of the upsets of the season.
Cherry over Deer River 109-50. Did you know that Deer River won this game in the season opener last year? Did you know that Deer River has two of their top three scorers back and four guys from their rotation back? And Cherry won by 59 a year later. That was a statement made. Noah AsumaNoahAsuma

went over 1K and his career has a long, long ways to go!
Rogers over Brainerd 76-69. We hold Brainerd in high regard and for Rogers to beat them on opening night is an attention grabber.
Dawson-Boyd over RTR 75-62. This was about what was expected but the result is very important any way you look at it. These are top ten Class A teams and likely they were two of the best two or three Class A teams last year. Brayson BoikeBraysonBoike

putting 32 and 16 leading the way.
Staples-Motley over Wadena-Deer Creek 73-61. Expectations are high at WDC with them being top section and conference favorites. The expectations might have been too high on opening night as Staples Motley pulled off an upset.
Chaska over Northfield 79-69. The Hawks beat a Northfield team that should be pretty good and they did it without Trey Lanzen having a big scoring night. Tyler ForrestTylerForrest

led with 19 points.
Jordan over Glencoe Silver-Lake 73-63. Jordan is expected to be solid but not great, and GSL is a team we thought could improve and maybe be a top 20 Class AA team. It was the Hubmen maintaining control.
Watertown-Mayer over Lester Prairie 77-63. LP is a top 15 team in Class A whereas Watertown-Mayer was a mystery considering that they only have one guy back from last year’s ten man rotation. Looks like the Royals might be just fine although very new.
Hopkins over Orono 93-75. Good performance for the Royals in a win we expected considering Orono has so much change going on while the Royals have three starters returning.
Rushford-Peterson 75-53. Southland is expected to be a good team but on opening night those Trojans
controlled the contest.
