Let’s start with this – Sanderson rocked the gym with 51 points in the win. He scored in every feasible fashion from everywhere on the floor. The best part of his game was that the 51 points scored probably wasn’t what stood out the most in his game. For me, it was his vastly improved athletic defense. Sanderson was a thorn in the side of Canton on the perimeter all game long. I became very appreciative of this young man’s game last season. Very underrated last year. This year he has superstar written all over his game. We all know he can shoot, but in this game, he was so adept working the baselines and driving the lane, that he didn’t really even need his jumper. Richards did a great job of getting a step on his defenders, sealing them, and finishing off both 1 and 2 feet.

The physical forward may not have the height at 6’1″, but he more than makes up for it with his strength. Pettus did a nice job establishing position and letting the game come to him. He not only was comfortable with contact, but initiated it and thrived with it. Pettus was more than comfortable putting his body on taller players and moving them around.
Perettie’s team may not have won, but his game more than stood out. Quite simply, he’s a very high level lead guard in my opinion. He works well off screens, where he reads the defense and attacks their response to the screen. Perettie does a very nice job advancing the ball through pressure with the pass. He’s effective in the open floor where he can lead with the ball as well as score with balance off the wing.
Vachon was really solid in his team’s impressive victory. He showed off a very fast first step early in the game, which allowed him to get in the lane with the ball and finish effectively in traffic. Vachon showed a pretty left to right crossover and 3 point range on his jumper as well. He looked like a high IQ defender that played angles and could pick up or trap at half court.
