I had to start this with Eklund. He was just lights out in a nice win against Williamston. These were 2 well coached teams going at it and it was going to take a big time game from a big time player either way. Eklund more than answered that call. He scorched the nets for 39 points in the win, literally scoring in every way. Early in the game he impressively used his pivot foot to create space and score. He followed that up with a put back, a finish through contact and the use of a jab step to create space. Eklund even hit a cutter with an accurate pass over top of the defense. I was very impressed with the way that he always stayed pass ready through his movement off the ball.
Flannery caught my eye in DeWitt’s thrilling win against Sparta. He had a good feel for the floor and found open space early and was rewarded with a pass that led to a bucket. Flannery showed a couple times that he could get to the rim and finish with a bucket off of a straight line drive. I liked his ability to pass in traffic and on the move. Flannery was good defensively, even turning defense into offense.
Krynicki is an impressive player that seems to get better every single time I watch him play. The Northwood commit showed off his sharpshooting in the game against DeWitt. He buried a contested corner 3 and hit another deep triple with a hand in his face. Krynicki wasn’t done there though. He had a pretty pull up 3 pointer that he got off perfectly in rhythm. Krynicki was also able to connect off a pick and pop when he screened for ball handler up top. He’s not just a passer though, as he showed the ability to pass the ball as well. Krynicki had a beautiful skip pass in transition that led to a bucket.
Williamston wasn’t victorious, but Hunt certainly left his mark. There is just a lot to like about what he brings to the table as a prospect and the upside in his game. Hunt uses his length well on the defensive end. He walls up and challenges shots in the lane, but he can also swallow smaller players on the dribble drive. Hunt showed that he was comfortable working with his back to the basket as well as facing the rim.
Pohl caught my eye in DeWitt’s hard fought win. He was a pretty disruptive perimeter defender and there’s a lot of upside in that part of his game. Pohl showed the ability to shoot from behind the arc, burying a catch and shoot 3 as well as a triple with a hand in his face. I liked how dependable he was with the ball and how composed and steady he was throughout the contest. Pohl had the look of a solid decision maker and even did the little things like take a charge.
