Roan Demovsky – 2025 – G – De Pere
A guard I really like in the 2025 class is Demovsky. His brother was a solid player for the Redbirds. Demovsky has a lot of the same traits, but has some added quickness and is more offensive-minded. Like his brother, who now plays at Lawrence College, Demovsky thrives in being a star in his role. He knows what’s going to get him on the floor — playing hard-nosed defense, bringing energy, moving the ball with a purpose offensively, and when there’s an opportunity to attack…take it.
He’s such a luxury for this Redbird squad because Demovsky can take pressure off the three star players on both ends of the floor. He’s a guy that can defend the other team’s best player if needed. With as much attention as De Pere’s ‘big 3’ is going to get this season, Demovsky, who has some serious blow-by ability on the ball, can make teams pay if you forget about him. When you talk about x-factors among the state’s top teams, Demovsky is near the top of my list. He contributed seven points (3-4), two assists, one block, and held down Ashwaubenon’s leading scorer for most of the night.
Highlights
Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI – 2024 – PF – De Pere
Ashwaubenon couldn’t match up with Hornseth. That being said, De Pere saw a lot of zone as the opposition tried to limit his touches. When Hornseth did get the ball in his spots, it was over. The Northern Iowa commit scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. He also grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out three assists. A 6-foot-8 post prospect that does everything well, Hornseth got his points in a variety of ways. Hornseth showed off some new moves in the post, including a little fake spin where he goes back to his right hand.
A prospect who’s clearly drilled well on fundamentals, footwork, and patience in the post, Hornseth has a terrific back-to-the-basket game. Hornseth is really hard to double in the post, because he’s such a good passer. It’s almost his first instinct at times with how well De Pere shoots the ‘3’. Knowing he wasn’t going to get a lot of touches, loves how Hornseth attacked the offensive glass and made a big difference early when the game went back and forth.
Zach Kinziger Zach Kinziger 6'3" | SG De Pere | 2025 State #127 Nation WI – 2025 – G – De Pere
Kinziger overcame a slow start, but finished with a game-high 25 points. All it takes for this kid is to see one go through the net, and then, it’s on. One of the state’s top shooters, Kinziger just has in-the-gym range combined with a smooth, effortless stroke. He made Ashwaubenon really extend their zone, which would inevitably open up things for everyone else. Kinziger went 9-of-22 from the field, but was 9-of-18 after missing his first four shots. Even when his shot wasn’t falling, you didn’t see it impact the other areas of Kinziger’s game. He grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists, took a charge, and I had him with five steals and two blocks.
Jayden Schoen Jayden Schoen 6'3" | SG Ashwaubenon | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Ashwaubenon
Schoen had one of the best defenders in the state on him, but when he got looks, thought Schoen made them count for the most part. Again, Schoen wasn’t able to get loose very much, but he did go an impressive 4-of-4 from 3-point range. A pair of triples brought Ashwaubenon within striking distance late in the first half. A lengthy two-guard with strong positional size at 6-foot-4 and somewhat of a raw body type, Schoen has a chance to really develop when he gets into a collegiate strength and conditioning program. Think he’s got the tools to be a multi-dimensional scorer and somewhat of a mismatch problem with the way he can take smaller guards down into the post.
Drew Tomashek Drew Tomashek 6'0" | PG Ashwaubenon | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Ashwaubenon
Like his older brother, Tomashek appears to be getting a lot better in a hurry later in his high school career. Given how loaded his AAU program is, you don’t always get a great feel for what Tomashek can do. He’s more of a spot-up 3-point shooter and extra ball handler in the summer, but seeing him in a star’s role last week displayed a different side. Battling foul trouble, Tomashek had four fouls early in the second half. Perhaps it was due to the opponent and the stakes of the game, but thought his coach showed a lot of trust in leaving him on the floor. Tomashek was able to get going late in the game, finishing with a team-high 17 points on 5-of-13 shooting. The senior guard also tallied five rebounds and four assists in the loss.
