Continue ReadingPost-Christmas tournaments have become a go-to evaluation setting across the country and The Classic at Damien is one of the must-stop events in the holiday tournament circuit. In this piece we take a quick look at the best unsigned seniors you can see in the Damien Gold Division.
Amare Campbell Amare Campbell 6'0" | PG Etiwanda | 2024 State | Etiwanda – The dynamic left-handed point guard is one of the best on-ball defenders in the Southern California region. He also happens to be an elite downhill athlete with the frame to absorb and finish through contact.
Bishop Brooks Bishop Brooks 6'4" | SF Taft | 2024 State | West Ranch – Brooks is a strongly-built 6-foot-3 shooting guard whose ability to stretch the floor off the catch is his most translatable skill to the next level. Brooks has multiple spot and deep range consistency on his jump shot.
Brian Amunueke Brian Amunueke 6'4" | SF Rancho Christian | 2024 State | Rancho Christian – Amunueke is a high level athlete who uses that, along with his size and length, to be an effective transition finisher and slasher off the ball in half-court offense. The 6-foot-4 wing is also very good at hitting open lanes for straight line drive finishes.
Carrington Pierce Carrington Pierce 6'1" | CG Etiwanda | 2024 State | Etiwanda – The 6-foot guard is not only a high-level on-ball and team defensive player, but he’s also a high IQ game-managing, table-setting type of point guard. His unselfishness, vision and use of his quickness and changes of speeds make him an automatic paint touch who creates for others.
Cole Epperson Cole Epperson 6'7" | PF Jesuit | 2024 State | Jesuit – Epperson is a skilled 6-foot-7 forward who has inside-out scoring ability and a pop of athleticism in transition. Epperson has great feel on the perimeter when using screens or knowing when to cut for a slashing layup or dunk. The senior can knock down catch and shoot threes, trail threes and uses screens well to get open where he flows smoothly into his jumper.
Darrell Morris, Jr. Darrell Morris, Jr. 5'9" | PG West Ranch | 2024 State | West Ranch – There are few other players in the state who guard the ball as well as Morris does. The 5-foot-9 point guard can keep just about any defensive assignment in front of him and his ability to speed up ball handlers with his pressure and quick hands results in turnovers and transition baskets the other way. Morris is one of the more active and hard-playing prospects you’ll see.
Devin Whitten Devin Whitten 6'2" | SG Curtis | 2024 State WA | Curtis (WA) – When you look in the basketball textbooks about the proper shooting form, you might see a picture of Whitten’s jumper. The 6-foot-1 guard has impeccable mechanics, a shot-ready mentality and a quick release, all of which result in him being among the best shooters in this event.
Devin Ringer Devin Ringer 6'2" | SG Redondo Union | 2024 State | Redondo Union – The 6-foot-3 combo guard is a player who can impact the game in a variety of ways. Ringer is a knock down three-point shooter who can also create for himself and others off the dribble. His improvements as a decision-maker with the ball in his hands has helped in his evolution into a true combo guard.
Ike Sutton | Hillcrest (ID) – Sutton is a smart and crafty point guard who does a really nice job of balancing scoring and distributing. The 5-foot-10 senior shoots the three-ball with consistency off the catch and off the dribble but is also a willing and capable passer and creator for teammates.
