Bryce Heard Talks Visits and Recruitment
Homewood Flossmoor 2025 shooting guard Bryce Heard Bryce Heard 6'6" | SG Homewood Flossmoor | 2025 State #86 Nation IL is one of the top prospects in the state of Illinois regardless of class and ranks near the top of the board in the junior group. He moved back from a year at prep power Montverde (FL) to return to the state now at Homewood Flossmoor. We caught up with Heard to see how it is going.
“It has been good and exciting to play back at home in front of my parents and crowd. HF has brought a lot of support to the team. It is great to be back. I think I have been playing good. We are undefeated in the state right now. Just one tough loss, but other than that it has been good.”
He feels he has really made strides on one side of the ball since he left a year ago.
“My defense has gotten a lot better from when I was at Kenwood to now. It has become one of the stronger parts of my game.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“It is real open right now. There are a lot of schools contacting me right now. No lists or anything.”
Heard rattled off a list of some of his offers.
“Arkansas, Georgia, NC State, Cal, Oklahoma State, USC, etc.”
He took three visits in the fall.
“I took an official to Oklahoma State along with unofficial to Arkansas and Georgia.”
What stood out about Arkansas?
“Got to meet coach Musselman and the rest of the staff. It was a good atmosphere to be around and see an SEC school.”
Georgia has a connection with a now commit to one of his former teammates Asa Newell.
“It was cool too. I went out there with one of my old teammates from Montverde. I had a good time seeing the campus.”
Oklahoma State is really making him a major early priority.
“That was good. It was nice meeting the staff. They came out to HF two weeks before I came out there. It was good to be around them with a family feel.”
What other schools would he like to visit?
“I am going to take all my officials after the season. I plan to set up trips to USC, Arkansas, NC State, and possibly Georgia too.”
Heard has a timeline in mind for a decision.
“I am shooting for around May time, but it is real open. It is not set in stone. I am shooting for the spring, but if not then I will wait.”
What is most important in a program for Heard?
“Family feel and being away from home I have to have a good staff around me.”
