Armada Fall on Road:
The Atlantic Collegiate Armada lost for the first time this season to the Landsharks 51-44. The Armada fell to (6-1) on the season. Atlantic Collegiate is playing an independent schedule this season and won’t be eligible to postseason play in the SCHSL this coming season.
Lay Comes Up Big off the Bench:
Jones Lay Jones Lay 6'10" | PF Atlantic Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC is a just a junior and still improving every time out. Lay as legit size down low on the block and a great set of hands. Jones finished several dunks around the rim today on his way to scoring 15 points and grabbing 9 rebounds according to my unofficial stats. Lay is great passer from the high post and continues to develop with his play. Jones does a great job of keeping the ball up high after claiming it off the boards.
Stickney Lives in the Lane:
Senior guard Travis Stickney Travis Stickney 6'1" | PG Oceanside Collegiate | 2024 State SC just brings winning attitude and toughness to the floor for the Landsharks. Travis lived in the lane all night long it seems if it came to finishing at the cup with either hand, leaving a pass off for a teammate or simply being in the middle of the action. Stickney is so good at using his body on the way to the basket protecting the rock. Travis scored 16 points in the win.
Thomas and Jones Help Landsharks Prevail:
Jake Thomas Jake Thomas 6'6" | PF Oceanside Collegiate | 2026 State SC and Carson Jones Carson Jones 6'4" | SG Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC both helped out in the winning cause here tonight for the Landsharks. Thomas came out with a ton of energy and really made himself felt down on the block. He was able to finish around the rim with his left-hand at times and grab some loose balls in the process. Thomas does his best work close to the cup and finished here today with 10 points.
Jones really likes to set up shop out in the corners. Carson looks to dial in from downtown whenever he gets the chance. He finished here today with 8 points on a couple made three-pointers.
Atlantic Collegiate Has Talent:
The Armada has plenty of talent on this roster this season for Head Coach Jason Harris. Santana Mayes Santana Mayes 6'0" | PG Atlantic Collegiate | 2024 State SC , Sam Medalie Sam Medalie 6'3" | PG Atlantic Collegiate Academy | 2024 State SC , Jamie Brooks Jamie Brooks 6'6" | C Atlantic Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC , Clayton Hemingway Clayton Hemingway 6'6" | PF Atlantic Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC and Jaylen Bellamy Jaylen Bellamy 6'2" | SG Atlantic Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC to name just a few.
Mayes a transfer from Conway HS likes to play off the ball. Santana played good minutes over the past few seasons for the Tigers at the Class 5A level.
Medalie new to the Palmetto State brings a good feel to the game and understanding playing out top at point guard. Sam really seems to stay composed on the floor and plays at a nice pace at all times.
Brooks a post player has saw plenty of action and success over the past few seasons at nearby North Myrtle Beach HS. Jamie brings a good presence down low on the block and at times will alter and challenge shots on the defensive end.
Hemingway and Bellamy both came over from nearby Loris HS to Atlantic Collegiate. This duo brings good athleticism and some perimeter shooting to the table for the Armada this season.
