Emerging Names
The 6’7 lengthy SF had himself a solid week out at The Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. It seems like he has found his niche as a double-double machine out in Las Vegas. Only a junior and a new name emerging out in Utah. LCA is starting to click and the right guys are getting it done.
Highlights
Jason is proving to be the real deal and he had a solid week for Provo. He has size and mobility and showed a little bit of everything out at the Tarkanian. He was rebounding and taking off, he doesn’t have to wait for a smaller guard he can get that break going all by himself. The thing that really makes him a gem is that he can step outside and shoot the ball. He is only going to improve that outside shot in time.
Juan Diego has been able to develop a lot of talent over the years. This team right now has a lot of contributors but Aguirre really showed a lot of growth in his game and it helps that he was out there playing at a high level. Could be an important piece moving forward because he is a strong high motor guard.
D1 Prospects
Jones had himself a week out at the Tark and not only did he play above the rim and show his perimeter game, his movement off the ball and his attack moves have really taken the next level. In this new age of basketball Jones has the intangibles to really be an impact player at a MM D1 and he is just starting to elevate which means his high ceiling continues to rise. Jones not only had an excellent week he earned MVP honors and came through and helped his team win their bracket.
Highlights
While Ace has committed to play at College of Southern Idaho any D1 team in need of their next level PG has more to think about because he has the talent and the skills to play at that level. Ace has virtually getting to any place he wanted to on the floor this week at The Tarkanian and he continues to sharpen his outside shot. One of those players you hate to have to play against but live when he is on your team.
On a Tear
to drop 31 on Dominguez a So.Cal power is crazy and that is how you can describe Chase’s game right now and that is crazy. He is at least a D1 JUCO kid that could play against some of the best talent in the country. Seeing him do it against dudes and teams at The Tarkanian really helped his stock for sure.
Highlights
Jaxon is such a matchup problem because he can go inside as he has that back to the basket foundation, but he has developed that handle and perimeter game very well. He was able to get his shots outside and he is showing why he continues to rise among the top players nationally.
Aaydan was on his game and when he was getting his touches he was shooting it at a high level. His game is nice and he could be a D3 or NAIA type of player. He can get to the rim and he can shoot the ball too at the midrange and beyond the arc. He was really nice off the bounce this week at The Tarkanian.
Players that Played Well
Caden was doing some great things on the floor. He was moving the ball and he was making open shots in the flow of the offense. Could be a D3 type of a prospect.
Love what they are doing over at Alta. They have a few players off the bench that are doing great but this is a great time to get more players rolling. Getting a kid with some guard size like McKea going is very smart and he has been solid. New name playing well.
