The calendar year is coming to a close as New Year's Day is right around the corner. The freshman class has only played a couple of games in their varsity careers, but their potential is still tantalizing to watch. Here are the 2027 shooting guards to watch in the new year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2202021' first='Aidan' last='Carter'], 6'3 St. Thomas Aquinas

Carter is one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2027 class as he can impact the offense in a number of ways. The 6'3 guard has a good handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the basket. Carter can also score in the mid-range and sets his feet before he shoots. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and slides his feet on defense. Carter has the ability to play on and off the ball, which will help his development throughout his varsity career.

[player_tooltip player_id='2202020' first='Avery' last='Lynch'], 6'3 St. Rose

Lynch is part of a talented Purple Roses' backcourt, but that won't stop him from making an impact this season. The 6'3 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Lynch moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the halfcourt. He can also put the ball on the floor and is an underrated defender. Lynch's ability to stretch the floor is something that will help him get playing time over the next couple of months.

[player_tooltip player_id='2203813' first='Neel' last='Sappidi'], 6'1 Pingry

Sappidi has been consistent for Pingry so far this season as he is currently fourth on the team in scoring. The 6'1 guard has a nice first step, which he uses to get to the rim and finish. Sappidi has a good touch on his floater and wastes little motion in his release. He moves well without the ball in his hands and can get deflections on defense. Sappidi is a gritty guard prospect who should continue to develop over the course of his freshman season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2201963' first='Antonio' last='Tristani'], 6'0 Bergen Catholic

Tristani has the potential to make noise in 2024 with his ability to knock down jumpers from behind the arc. The 6'0 guard has a good shooting stroke and wastes little motion in his release. Tristani rarely forces jumpers and can find open teammates in the halfcourt. He works hard on defense and is an underrated rebounder. Tristani is a sharpshooting guard prospect whose ability to make good decisions with the ball will help his playing time in 2024.

Jalen Bell, 6'0 Egg Harbor

Bell has stepped into the leading scorer role in his debut season for the Eagles and has done a good job so far this season. The 6'0 guard rises up with confidence on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches as he has three games with at least four made threes. Bell is more than just a shooter as he can also finish around the rim and get to the paint off the bounce. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and get deflections on defense. Bell is a skilled guard prospect who should continue to put up good numbers for Egg Harbor this season.
