Teams in the 1A class to watch for

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As the season gets started in just about 3 weeks, I will be taking a look into each class to see what teams could compete. I will look into last years state bracket, who the teams lost, and who they have returning to their squads. Here is the 1A class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lynden Christian has been dominating the 1A class for many, many years. Just like their cross town 2A rival Lynden, the Lyncs have also claimed 2 straight 1A state titles. The Lyncs were led by Tyler Sipma (Trinity Western University), Griffin Dykstra (‘23 guard), and [player_tooltip player_id='1457515' first='Jeremiah' last='Wright'] (‘24 big) with some other key players filling in their roles so the team can succeed at a high level. They defeated a tough Kings team who were led by [player_tooltip player_id='2478559' first='Cam' last='Hiatt'] (‘25 wing) who has now transferred Western Reserve Academy now. Kings will still be a team who can compete with the top teams, with the returning talent they have. Blaine finished 3rd overall last season with Carson Lehnert (Douglas College), Mathew Russ (Skagit Valley CC), and Lucas Smith (Prestige Worldwide Sports Academy) all 3 played great off each other, having played together for many years. Zilliah finished 4th, with Luke Navarre (‘23 big) and [player_tooltip player_id='1612212' first='Dominic' last='Navarre'] (‘24 big) both having dominating seasons. <br><br>This upcoming season is going to be a very fun, competitive one throughout all the classes. The 1A class, I believe, will have about 4 teams who will be able to withstand the long season and possibly make a deep run in the postseason. Lynden Christian once again will be one of the teams competing for the state title. [player_tooltip player_id='1457515' first='Jeremiah' last='Wright'] (‘24 big) will be back to carry the team on his back and showcase to everyone he's a complete player. [player_tooltip player_id='2158292' first='Dawson' last='Bouma'] (‘24 wing) will also have a bigger role for the Lyncs this season. Zillah will be a competitive team with [player_tooltip player_id='1612212' first='Dominic' last='Navarre'] (‘24 big) coming back to dominate the paint on both sides of the ball. Decker Van De Graaf (‘26 guard) is going to be a player who will take a big jump during this season too. Kings has [player_tooltip player_id='1710013' first='Nick' last='Linhardt'] (‘24 wing) will be taking on the main scoring option as Hiatt has transferred. Linhardt is a creative, smooth scorer who knows how to get to his spots. [player_tooltip player_id='1685494' first='Colton' last='Adams'] (‘26 guard) is a phenomenal athlete, being one of the best athletes within the entire 1A class. [player_tooltip player_id='1850308' first='Sebastian' last='Cooper'] (‘25 guard) will have the ball in his hands more too, which will showcase his high level vision and ability to run the offense. Annie Wright is the final team who I will mention in this article. They have arguably the best 2025 player in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='1450980' first='Martin' last='Kaupanger'], who can do it all on the court. He has evolved his game in such a big way on both sides of the ball, he's shown he's a high level Division 1 player. [player_tooltip player_id='1450983' first='Jeremiah' last='Harshman'] (‘25 guard) has been on the rise lately, being a top guard in the 2025 class. Harshman is a fantastic playmaker, being able to score at will and sink shots with ease. His vision is up there with the top players in the state, as he can easily dish out 10 plus assists. [player_tooltip player_id='1850302' first='Reggie' last='Lester'] (‘25 guard), [player_tooltip player_id='1625220' first='TJ' last='Marshall'] (‘24 guard), and [player_tooltip player_id='1863197' first='Amare' last='Breedlove'] (‘26 guard) are some other players who will step up in key times for Annie Wright.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Like last article, I am going to make a prediction for each class on who I think will win the state championship. These are purely WAY TO EARLY predictions, but like I said, sometimes those are fun. My state champion prediction is Annie Wright taking home the state title over Zillah.
