Sioux Valley: Season Preview

It seems like Sioux Valley is always highly competitive at basketball and this season will be no different. PHD believes that the Cossacks are a top 5 team in Class A and that coach <em>Vincent's</em> squad will be back at the State Tournament. The people in the Volga community love their basketball and they will once again be in for a treat when they watch the Cossacks this winter. The Cossacks will be<br>able to put an athletic team on the floor and they will have good length/size. They are a skilled group with multiple shooters that can fill it up. I envision the Cossacks as a team that will play solid defense and control the boards on both ends. We will play in two very competitive conferences and play a tough non-conference schedule. The combination of this should make us Tourney Tough. Last Season SV was 23-3 Consolation Champions at State. [player_tooltip player_id='1266223' first='Alec' last='Squires'], [player_tooltip player_id='1266229' first='Hudsyn' last='Ruesink'], &amp; [player_tooltip player_id='1263164' first='Maverick' last='Nelson'] are returning starters. [player_tooltip player_id='1266223' first='Alec' last='Squires'] is returning All-Stater &amp; has signed with SDSU. He is a returning All-Conference performer who averaged 12 ppg &amp; 10 rpg, the two Conferences (LLC &amp; Big East) the Cossacks compete in look to be balanced this year, with teams like DeSmet, Hamlin, Castlewood, Clark-WL, Beresford, MCM, Baltic, &amp; Flandreau all being very talented.
