Florida High School Basketball practices officially got underway last week. Two months ago, Prep Hoops Florida took a deep dive into the way-too-early preseason rankings. Now we can provide more accurate in-depth analysis for teams to watch for this upcoming season. Here are some of the state title favorites in Class 2A for this season:

The Class 2A Reigning Champions were the Sagemont Lions who won their third state title in school history, defeating Orlando Christian Prep 67-66 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

Sagemont: The Sagemont Lions made a lot of noise this off-season where they landed a key transfer in 6-4 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2197299' first='Jordyn' last='Kee']. The Lions do return their leading rebounder in 6-6 senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1055744' first='Dominic' last='Issa'] as well as 6-9 senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1859278' first='Kenneth' last='Lopez']. The Lions could get back to the state championship game as they have a veteran backcourt in 6-5 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1879504' first='Patrick' last='Liburd'] and 6-3 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2197811' first='Devontae' last='Jean'].

Orlando Christian Prep: The Orlando Christian Prep Warriors came up just short of eyeing their fourth consecutive state title last season. They have some unfinished business to take care of with leading returners in 6-5 senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1055774' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'] (Florida commit) and 6-0 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1055785' first='Ameer' last='Ramadan'] (Florida Southern commit). Also keep an eye this season on 6-6 senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1306096' first='Marc' last='Angueki'] who led the team in rebounds per game last season.

Sports Leadership & Management (Tampa): The Spartans are coming off their first appearance to the Final Four in school history last season, where they were led by 6-4 guards [player_tooltip player_id='1055721' first='Ramone' last='Seals'] and Xavier Finney. This year's team is destined to be even better as they landed 6-1 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1055592' first='Daniel' last='MacGregor'], 6-5 sophomore guard Willie Piggott Jr and 6-3 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1055706' first='Adrian' last='Moore'] to help support Seals this season. Also keep an eye on 6-0 junior guard Derrick Doe who is a lead catalyst who gives his teammates good energy off the bench.

Victory Christian Academy: The Storm reached the Region Final for the first time in school history last season, behind 6-3 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1055782' first='Lorenzo' last='Cason'] (Florida Atlantic commit) leading the classification in scoring. This year's team will feature a veteran-led backcourt in 6-3 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1055581' first='Jordan' last='Lanier'], 5-7 freshman guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125502' first='Miles' last='Morrell'] and 6-0 senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1296001' first='Mike' last='Andino'].

North Florida Educational Institute: Despite losing their top two leading scorers at the end of last season due to graduation, the Eagles are reloading this year. Keep an eye on 6-2 sophomore guard Carlos Odeja to take care of initiating the offense as he follows in the footsteps of former combo guard Isaac Taveras. Another name to keep an eye on this season will be 6-6 senior wing LeAno Rolle who plays a superb athleticism role where he can finish efficiently around the rim as well as become a big-time rebounder on both ends of the floor. A sleeper prospect in this offense can be 6-5 senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1859287' first='Kemauny' last='Welch'] who can make an impact on both ends of the floor, as well as become a real deal of a future collegiate prospect.
