Continue ReadingOn Monday we released our initial Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2027 Watch List featuring 190 of the best freshmen from across the state. We do not rank prospects in the freshmen class until we’ve been able to at least see them play for their respective high school teams, so there won’t be a ranking until our next update. However, we still continue to grow the watch list over the next few months before ultimately releasing a Top 25 after the first of the year. With that being said, we will know who a few of the very best prospects are in the class and what names you’ll be hearing sooner rather than later this high school season. Between our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and other events from the summer and fall we have already started to get a grasp on these younger prospects. So, here are six shooting guards in the Class of 2027 that we have enjoyed watching early on in their careers.
If there is a player that you feel deserves to be on our Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2027 Watch List PLEASE shoot me a DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR or send me an email at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com. I will make sure to add them to my database and include them in the next update of our Watch List.
***Please disregard the Position Ranking that is being listed in the player profile. We are working to remove those on the backend. All prospects are simply listed alphabetically.***
Very much capable of playing on or off of the ball, Baker-Lands is one of the better playmakers in the Class of 2027 regardless of what backcourt position you label him as. He is part of a very talented young core at Plainfield High School that should make an impact at the varsity level this winter.
Another guard in this class that is very capable of playing either spot in the backcourt, Burks is an electric scorer that showed his skill throughout the summer and then again at the Metro Indy Fall League. He is a great athlete, explosive on his way to the basket, and more than capable of scoring it from beyond the arc.

McKain from Boonville is another one, but this Terre Haute North High School prospect is one of the most physically impressive freshmen in the state of Indiana. Hammond is 6’3″ on the perimeter with the ability to dominate smaller defenders off of the dribble and around the basket. Definitely a name to remember in the Class of 2027.
Kirk is guy in this Class of 2027 that is clearly comfortable playing on or off of the ball. He was among the standouts at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase as the Noblesville High School prospect shot the ball well from three-point range and was very effective as a passer in ballscreen situations.

One of the prospects that really stood out on my trip down to the Pocket City Fall League, McKain is one of the most physically impressive freshmen in the state of Indiana. Also a high level baseball player, McKain is very strong off of the dribble and can be an impactful defender right away in his high school career. A name to remember at Boonville High School.
At our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase in late August this Zionsville High School product was one of the more productive guards at the event. He has good size on the perimeter and scored it in a variety of ways with drives to the basket, floaters, and some perimeter jump shots.
