The hosts Providence took on Saugas, Loyola faced Village Christian, and Crespi squared off against Oakwood to cap off the evening.
Peter Burton
Peter Burton
Burton chipped in 12 points for Saugas in a win over Providence on Tuesday afternoon. Peter defended competitively, got into passing lanes, and finished defensive possessions with rebounds. He also showed a multitude of skills on the offensive end as he was a threat from beyond the arc with 2 threes and attacked the basket confidently.
Julian Thompkins
Julian Thompkins
Julian had 12 points in a tough loss to Saugas on Tuesday. Thompkins shot the ball well from three (two 3PM) and effectively created separation from defenders to get to the basket.
Jalen Thomas
Jalen Thomas
Jalen shot the ball well from 3 yesterday in a tough loss to Saugas. Thomas is a solidly built guard and this helps him be versatile at both ends as a rebounder, defender, and interior scorer.
Justin Perez
Justin Perez
Justin had 24 points yesterday in a win over Providence and provided a major spark for his team. Perez scored the ball from all over the court, got to the free throw line, and competed very hard on defense. He hit 2 threes, but it was his aggressiveness to get to the rim that had such an impact on the game. Justin has a great first step, is very quick with the ball, and confidently finishes at the rim with either hand.
Sydney Natche
Sydney Natche
Sydney had a dynamic 20 point performance on Tuesday night in Village Christian’s tough loss against Loyola. Natche hit multiple threes, attacked the rim fearlessly, and got to the free throw line where he was very effective. He uses his 3 point shooting ability to draw defenders in and is able to take advantage with his quickness and athleticism to get to the rim.
Andy Porcayo
Andy Porcayo
Andy had 20 tough points (two 3PM) in Village Christian’s close loss to Loyola on Tuesday. Porcayo is very quick with the ball, has good footwork, and has good touch around the basket. His footwork and quickness allow him to create space on the offensive end and he particularly thrives in the mid range area.
Hugh had 17 points including the game winning 3 as Loyola narrowly beat Village Christian on Tuesday. Vandeweghe contributed all over the court with accurate passes out of the high post, solid on ball screens, and tenacious rebounding at both ends. He is also great in the pick n’ roll where he can effectively pop out to the three point line or roll to the man and either score himself or find an open teammate.
Quincy shot the lights out Tuesday night finishing with 22 points and 6 three’s in Loyola’s win over Village Christian. Watson moved tremendously without the ball and always seemed to know where a space was about to open up for him. He also has a quick enough release to take advantage of even the smallest of windows afforded to him by a defense.
Joe finished with 21 points on Tuesday night in Crespi’s win over Oakwood. Sterling scores the ball efficiently at all 3 levels, draws contact to get to the free throw line, and creates open opportunities for teammates.
Peyton finished with 12 points on Tuesday night in Crespi’s win over Oakwood but also contributed all over the court with a ton of rebounds, blocked shots, and accurate passes as a roll man and from the high post. White will be a major force for Crespi this season.
