In this article we’ll put the focus other 2024 prospects who caught our attention. There were 6 boys varsity games.
Wesley was one of the better prospects in the first game with his ability to penetrate the paint using his jump stop repeatedly after getting into the paint to pass or shoot. He’s right handed but seemed more comfortable putting up floaters with the left hand. He’s a solid guard with good handles, and speed to push, and pass up in transition. He was good on defense.
Tyler Hennessey
Tyler Hennessey
It was our first look at the Senior point guard who handled himself well in this game. He was good handling backcourt ball pressure and physical play. He set the team in half-court sets, fed his big men in the post with good entry passes. He used his dribble to get into the paint and he hit the mid-range jumper.
Aidan Triplet
Aidan Triplet
Triplet was on our watch list, he’ll be moving into the rankings after his solid performance. He’s a long wing forward who has a good skill set. He’s on thin side but he can operate on the perimeter hitting 3-pointers, or make good cuts, and be a target into the post where he can put points on the board. He’ll block shots, rebound. He has some paint presence on defense with his length. He brought the ball up court a few times to relieve pressure.
AnDrue Perkins
AnDrue Perkins
Perkins been doing a good job running the point for this team. He has speed, and quickness to generate buckets on his own. He plays under control, has the vision to distribute the ball all around the perimeter, and to the right players. He hit an open 3ptr, gets into the paint, he’s fast in transition. He can apply ball pressure to other handlers, he got a key steal late. He showed good patience running the offense late in the game.
Alex Dupre
Alex Dupre
He brought a versatile game from SoCal. At 6’4, he was effective in the paint on both ends putting up points, defending, and rebounding. He has good handles to work along the perimeter, he hit 3’s off the dribble, and the catch. He’s strong using his dribble drive into the paint. He hit the elbow jumper a few times.
Deshawn Banks
Deshawn Banks
Banks has that quick twitch muscle going up off two feet for blocks, rebounds, and points. He might be more of a prospect who plays well without the ball, running, jumping and scraping for his points. He has good hops powering up inside. He went and got a few blocks, he has good strength and defends hard.
He brought his versatile game to this event. Standing 6’6 he can handle and pass the ball up top and along the perimeter. He worked the high post with good passing and drives to the rim. He has the foot speed, and lengthy arms to defend on the perimeter, and the toughness to help defend in the post. He’ll get his fair share of rebounds, and run the court.
Standing just 6’1 Lowe is the best rebounding guard of his size we’ve seen in NorCal. He has timing and great lift to go above taller players and haul in rebounds consistently. He was close to a double, double with 9 rebounds, and 11 points by our count. He’s a quality defender with speed, and strength to guard multiple positions, he took a charge. His offense is improved , he finishes in transition, and has an improving jump shot. He’s a rising prospect.
It was our first good look at Buchanan. Standing 6’8 he has some tools to work with. He’s going to get better as the season progresses. He’s an inside/out prospect who can knock down 3’s in the corners, use a dribble to hit the short corner jumpers. He can work inside with patience, hitting paint jumpers, and a dribble or two. He’ll get rebounds, blocks, and change shots. He’s a player to track.
Malik Johnson
Malik Johnson
He’s new to NorCal. He’s long, wiry, and a good court runner, he’s an active player on the court getting a few deflections taking the passing lanes away. He makes a good effort to defend on the perimeter. He has shot blocking abilities, he’ll go get rebounds. He had a few tap ins along with put backs for points. He made his free throws. We’ll see more.
