Here are my five thoughts after reviewing this clipped game.
One. Marley Return. First of all, it’s great to see Marley Baah-Yeboah Marley Baah-Yeboah 6'3" | SF Lakeville South | 2024 State MN back, and it’s also fantastic to see that he accepted a scholarship offer to play at Northern State. The biggest things that I watch for when a player comes back from the injury he had is comfort, lateral shifting, and confidence in lifting off a run. You can’t tell comfort from a clipped fall league video but you could surely see Marley shifting to the left and right with the ball to score, and that dunk on the baseline makes it look like the bounce is surely still there.
Two. Brayden’s Return. Also returning from injury is Brayden Carlson Brayden Carlson 6'8" | C Holy Family | 2024 State MN . Between the kickout passes from the post, the post moves scores with a little player stuck on his back, the baskets on the move, and most importantly the big screens opening things up, I really like the potential of what Carlson can give Holy Family. His teammates need to stop switching him onto explosive 6’2 guards but outside of that there was a lot to like from that video.
Three. Hello Hudson. Lakeville South junior power forward Hudson Greene Hudson Greene 6'5" | PF Lakeville South | 2025 State MN looked very good. I really liked his movement off of the ball screen, I loved the way he passed the basketball, and Greene did some good off ball active work as well. I believe five of his baskets were shown including two mid-range scores. With Joe Hager Joe Hager 6'4" | SF Lakeville South | 2024 State MN injured this summer and now in the middle of a football run, Greene has had a lot of chances to play and he looks like a nice piece.
Four. Sophomore to Know. Six-foot-6 sophomore Drew Coleman of Holy Family is a name to know. He appears to be a face-up four man with a really nice shooting touch. The video showed three jumpers made ranging from 14 to 20 feet plus a score on the move around the basket. Carlson, Luke Graff Luke Graff 6'3" | SG Holy Family | 2024 State MN , and Kole Hanson Kole Hanson 6'2" | PG Holy Family | 2024 State MN are going to draw attention and to have another guy that can stretch the defense for the Fire will be big.
Five. Buckets for Burks. I believe I counted 11 baskets for Damarcus Burks (signed with Northern State) on this video alone. And the video doesn’t have free throws nor all of the makes, plus he hit some threes. This had to have been close to a 30 point game for Burks. He was always on a downhill attack and Holy Family looked helpless trying to stop his burst, strength and body control going to the cup.
Extra. Kole in Transition. There were five different occasions on this video where Kole Hanson Kole Hanson 6'2" | PG Holy Family | 2024 State MN forced a turnover and went the other way and turned it into a Fire score. The UMD signed guard will be on that Mr. Basketball top 20 list after the all state season he had as a junior.
