Kapaun Mt. Carmel – finished second in 2023:
Kapaun lost a few nice players from last seasons, but it’s possible the best players are back from their runner-up finish. Will Thengvall Will Thengvall 6'3" | SF Kapaun | 2024 State KS is a versatile forward with guard skills who can put a team on his back. He’s one of the best players in the state. Corbin Johnson Corbin Johnson 6'4" | PG Kapaun Mt Carmel | 2025 State KS (pictured) emerged as one of the best guards in the state – a point guard who can shoot an opponent out of the gym. Teagan Charles Teagan Charles 6'5" | SF Kapaun | 2024 State KS is a big, explosive athlete who may get more of an opportunity to star as a senior. And Brooks Powers Brooks Powers 6'3" | PG Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2024 State KS , another long guard with point man skills, was an important role player a year ago.
Highland Park – finished third in 2023:
Highland Park lost a collection of seniors that will be missed. But there is more in the stable, including several athletic guards who can continue the frenetic pace of last season. Coach’s son Mikey Williams Mikey Williams 6'3" | PG Highland Park | 2025 State KS is ready to take on a bigger role as a junior, as is point guard Jamon Wilson. Tamir Anderson Tamir Anderson 6'3" | SF Highland Park | 2024 State KS is a dynamite offensive threat. Amari Taylor and Prince McMillion got some minutes last year as well. But the best returner is big man Jacorey Robinson Jacorey Robinson 6'4" | SF Highland Park | 2025 State KS , who may be ready to put the team on his shoulders after playing a supporting role to the dynamic class of 2023.
Maize South – lost to Andover in the first round:
This team returns a strong trio – a point guard, a big man, and a versatile guard/forward. The point man, Michael Kates Michael Kates 5'9" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS , has been widely respected since his freshman season, and is ready to take over the leadership of this team. He’s got a great handle and playmaking ability, is powerful and experienced. Tory Homan Tory Homan 6'7" | C Maize South | 2024 State KS is a powerhouse center who goes to the goal with abandon and blocks shots, as well as bringing a lot of skill and IQ to the post. Jeron Askren Jeron Askren 6'3" | SG Maize South | 2024 State KS is a football stud who plays tough defense, rebounds and can be an offensive threat.
Blue Valley Southwest – lost to Kapaun Mt. Carmel in the first round:
The Timerwolves lose some significant seniors, but they return a strong group of contributors, particularly at the guard position in Jackson Bonczynski Jackson Bonczynski 6'0" | CG Blue Valley Southwest | 2024 State KS and Tate Everard Tate Everard 6'2" | CG Blue Valley Southwest | 2024 State KS . Those two handle the ball, dish it to shooters and can get buckets in transition and the midrange. Dylan Dunn is a big man who can stretch a defense from the perimeter, handle the ball and pass effectively. Alex Parks and Emmitt Peters Emmitt Peters 6'3" | SF St James Academy | 2026 State KS also got valuable experience last year.
